Star Trek - Ascendancy (Ultimate Edition)
Question About Incorporating Streamlined Rules from Kickstarter
First of all, thanks for the great work on the Star Trek: Ascendancy mod! I really appreciate the effort that has gone into making this available on Tabletop Simulator.

I recently saw that Gale Force Nine introduced streamlined rules as part of a recent Kickstarter campaign. These updated rules are meant to make gameplay smoother and improve the overall experience. I was wondering if you are considering incorporating these new rules into the mod. Additionally, the Kickstarter also introduced other new content, such as NPC rules and a campaign mode. Would these be something you plan to add to the mod as well?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks again for your hard work on maintaining and improving the mod!

I'm still not sold on a lot of the changes. I will eventually give them a try though. The real problem is that you pretty much have to play by the rules for some of the new content to work. The official version of the Gorn, for example, would be completely unplayable without using the new rules.

I hope they get added as an option for this so that people can try it out. On the positive note, we can always play by the original rules as well.

Hi. I am slowly starting on a new version of STA for the new content. I've gotten about 15% through the setup process so far.
I will leave this current version as is, and probably rename it to "Legacy Edition" so we can all still play by the old rules. Because of all the custom content that exists in this old version, I'm dreading trying to combine the old with the new. I intend for the new version to allow for the option of playing in a sandbox mode (non-scripted turns) and adding fan content as well. I hope apply all the things I've learned over the years and streamline the new version to be more efficient. I won't start in earnest until after I receive my new content.
That's a good way to go. I know at least my JemHadar faction would need a pretty big overhaul for the new rules. I'm sure some of the others would as well. Might also be confusing trying to combine the player made Gorn, Tholian, and Terran Empire factions with the new official ones.

Hi!
Thanks for your response and all the effort you're putting into this! I really appreciate your approach to handling the new content while keeping the existing version as a "Legacy Edition." That sounds like a great way to ensure everyone can still enjoy the game the way they prefer.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the new version develops, and I’m excited about the improvements and the sandbox mode. Best of luck with the setup process—I’ll be eagerly waiting for when everything comes together!

Thanks again for your hard work!
