F.A.Q. (2025)
Q: Is it safe to run two worlds with this mod?
A: Yes! It is recommended, as the Volcano is a separate world from the Islands, just as Caves are a separate world from the Forest.

Q: How does the Seaworthy work?
A: This question has two answers! The Seaworthy only works on servers running both a Forest and an Islands shard. This can be done through the following methods:

1) When generating a new world, make sure the Forest and Islands worlds are selected.
(Note: With this method you will not have access to Caves, but you can still enable the "Volcanic Island" world option on your Islands shard to still have all Volcano content available.)

or

2) Set up a Dedicated Server with Island Adventures to access all 4 worlds (Forest+Caves, Island+Volcano).
Visit our Discord for details and support in setting up these types of dedicated servers.
This handy video guide from Jazzy covers the process:

Q: Can I play Vanilla Shipwrecked with this mod?
A: Yes! You can disable the following features that IA adds:
  • Loot Table Additions: All custom additions to the following tables can be disabled: Treasure Hunting, Slot Machine, Trawling, and Yaarctopus.
  • Raid Bosses: Klaus, Bee Queen, and the Terraria bosses can all be disabled.
  • DST Boats: All DST Boat items, including our new additions, can be disabled.
  • Item Buffs: Sail Stick and Limestone Suit can be reverted to their vanilla stats.
  • RoT-Style Fish: SW fish no longer have alive/dead states and are caught the same as vanilla.
  • Combat Modifiers: This setting reverts all DLC mob health back to their vanilla values.
The following cannot be disabled:
  • Character Features: All character filter items that we have changed the recipe of or added variants for cannot be turned off as it is required to enjoy the DST roster to its fullest in SW!
  • Alt Recipes: All DST items that we have allowed crafting of in SW cannot be disabled, they have been handpicked as being important to the SW experience in some way or another.
  • Variant Items: As with Alt Recipes, Variant items are gameplay-important items that originated from DST but dont have fitting materials to craft in SW, so we made SW Variants of those items to serve a near-identical purpose.
  • RWYS Farming: IA does not rollback critical DST changes to gameplay such as this, we simply adapt the DLC content to work with it!

Q: My game crashes, what do I do?
A: Send us a detailed bug report with a crash log if applicable in the "Bug Reports" discussion. Remember, we cannot help if you only say "My game crashes when...."

Q: Is this mod still in development?
A: Yes, currently the mod has undergone a complete rewrite from the ground up.
Contributors are still updating the code on GitLab, and the Steam Workshop release will still be updated with important bugfixes and updates. We welcome any and all help as our active team is very small!

Q: Can I help you develop IA faster somehow?
A: You can at all times come and work with us, IA is an open collaboration. Our code is public on GitLab and contributors of all definitions are welcome. Let us know what you want to do!
As for donations, we don't take money. You simply can't buy the best things in life.

Q: Are you making Hamlet?
A: Yes! The current rewrite is largely in preparation to begin work on a Hamlet mod.

Q: What's the difference between "Island Adventures" and "Tropical Experience"?
A: IA focuses purely on Shipwrecked content and tries to stay true to the SW experience.
TE takes more liberty by also adding Hamlet, Forge and Gorge content, and a slew of other mods, as well as changing SW content more radically. Neither mod is inherently better, but if you want pure SW, get Island Adventures.

Q: What is the difference between "Island Adventures" and "Above The Clouds"?
A: IA will stick to its principles of making Hamlet as true to the singleplayer experience as possible while also sticking to DST's changes and introducing them when appropriate, such as making sure character rewrites get access to all their abilities in a Hamlet world. Plus you will also have access to the Skyworthy to hop between Hamlet, SW, and Forest worlds.
ATC leans more into reverting DST changes to make the gameplay feel almost 1-to-1 with singleplayer, at the cost of sacrificing core DST features such as RWYS farming, skilltrees, and more. ATC does not feature worldhopping between Hamlet and DST worlds either.

Q: What mods are NOT compatible with Island Adventures?
A: The general rule-of-thumb is that if another mod adds content from Shipwrecked or Hamlet, it will not be compatible with Island Adventures.
This includes mods such as:
  • Tropical Experience
  • Tropical Adventures
  • Above The Clouds
  • The Architect Pack
  • Heap of Foods

Other mods that aren't compatible include:
  • Don't Starve Alone (Causes desync issues between Islands and Volcano worlds)
  • New Boat Shapes (Does not function on SW water)
  • Music Mods (Most client music mods break when SW music plays)

(More FAQ will be written here as they get asked)

Hello! Is there a way to connect 2 world (one forest and caves, second islands and volcano) together? So like i create 2 world and link them so i can travel with seaworthy between them? I dont want to create a dedicated server, becouse my pc may explode

No, the forest and caves are two distinctly different worlds. The closest you'll be able to get without a dedicated server is to host a Forest+Islands server with the "Volcanic Island" worldgen setting for your Island world. No caves unfortunately.

Thanks, I will try to set up the dedicated server, and hope for the best!

You use Bone Keys! They're found via fishing up Watery Graves.
