1. On the ground abuse Imperial Artillery. It's extremly powerful and you can get them from Byss right away.
2. Don't go for high level factories or barracks in the begining, you just don't have the credits to support it.
3. Juggernaughts are a cheap altenrative to AT-AT's in the early game.
5. In space when attacking just group all Imperial ships, including fighters and bombers, into a tight death ball and steam roll the enemy. Don't try anything fancy, Black Sun and the Rebels will out attrition you in fighters and bombers until you tech up a bit so don't play their game. Use the heavy turbolasers of your Star Destroyers to blast their carriers and stations apart.
6. Shoot enemy capital ships and frigates first, you need to cut the enemy fleets down to size.
7. Don't autoreslve when the AI attacks you, you need to wittle down their number so try to do as much damage as you can.
8. The AI will retreat if you bring overwelming force. But if you use a pathfinder in space, you can trick the AI, then drop the Executor in ontop of them and target their engines before they can flee.
EDIT: Anyone can add to this.
They allow you to basically kill enemy ships before they run. I have one in every one of my combat fleets. I've spent the whole game trying to catch the damn providence cruisers, now I'm hunting them down one by one.
