Aegeis All In One Pack
Aegis AIP Level 2 Only Sometimes Building "Insane" Units
I've had a few times to test with both myself and another player as host, and it seems like only about half of the time will the enemy AI build the "new" custom units when Aegis AIP Level 2 is selected. Should we have clicked the button on page 3 for the AI to use RRV recycler? What's the point of that button, anyway, if the AIPs determine units?

the RRV button is ONLY for when you play vs the RRV Insane AIP. As far as you noticing that the game "sometimes" gives you insane ai weapon loadouts, is this reason: The AIP when the game starts, always starts off on plan 0, after you deploy your recy, the game randomly chooses plan 1 or plan 3. I wrote all of my plan 1's as stock units, the computer will occassionally throw in upgraded units in its build tree. All of my plan 3's however start off with custom loadouts, and every other plan after plan 3 will continue to have custom load outs. I have no control over this, its just something built into the game. But as you get later into the game you will eventually fight the "insane" units even if the game selects plan 1, because after plan 1 is plan L, plan A and plan S, which all use customized load outs.

AH ok. Makes total sense then. I really enjoy seeing those new custom units, the first couple of times they really threw us aback. I can see the need for a little randomness. :)

Could you utilize a 2nd mod that focusses solely on stock units + custom units that are at least Scion and IDSF in design?

Or üerhaps try to balance things out a little more? There are to many 1 shot, 1 kill weapons if you ask me. Other than that it's an amazing mod ofc. and you did one hell of a job with it.

23-Down, when you play my AIP, do you feel there is a chance that you could lose? If yes, then those heavy hitting units are doing their job. If no, then I need to add more of them and not less. See here is the problem, once the human player reaches a certain point of having enough defences and healers, its practically impossible for the AI to win. Then all you have to do is keep pressure on getting more pools on lock down and making your way to their base. Stock AI behavior, stock MPI, is limited in what I can do for the AI, so I have to cheat as best I can for the AI or it wouldn't really be a good fight.

That's my philosophy on my work here. I could be going about it all wrong though, but it seems to make folks happy. If you have suggestions on what more I can do, I'd be glad to hear it though. The WUG AIP offers many levels of difficulty and only uses stock units if that is more what you are looking for.

Thanks for answering.. Well ya. Personally I do like the new unit additions a lot. I just dislike the Furies in general. They belong with BZ1.

As for the difficulty: You did a wonderful job with the AI cheating. Even with healer units I kept losing as just a few of the fures mixed with constant Mauler spam kept overwhelming my gun tower defences. Had like 10 gun towers + 5 healer trucks.

You can't reproduce as fast as you keep losing stuff. Not sure if that is very practical - balance wise. Then again I suspect that in MPI with humans involved this whole deal might be a lot easier but in solo games it's mere impossible and I have been playing bz2 since 1999 on and off.

Anyway be it as it is. Perhaps some day into the future add some SP Aips that are meant for human players playing solo. Utilizing plans that are still powerful but more on a fair side and less cheating. Still providing a true challenge.

So you've only been playing solo? I can usually survive solo for a little while vs my AIP, but it does get to a point where I can't get pools and manage my base at the same time. I suppose I could get in the relay bunker, but then the FURY's like killing me while I'm in there. Playing with other folks make surviving much easier, i can let them get me pools while i build up my base and set up defences. They also distract the AI while out in the field.

Yes Aegeis' AIP is definitely more suited to MPI play with other players. Mid-Late game really starts spreading you out and it can be a challenge to keep up if you aren't prepared. For solo IA games, stick to Level 1, or if you don't mind the lack of custom enemy units, any of Wug's difficulties.

As a side note, you mention having 10 Gun Towers and 5 Service Trucks not surviving. Hopefully you are not relying solely on the stock Gun Tower and Service Truck. Be sure to use the Rocket Towers and Assault Service Trucks as a minimum.

Honestly I feel like the Furies need to go, I'm working on ideas for units to replace them but ofc they won't be as powerful.
