Scripted UI not working for non-host players
We have the following problem:

we are trying to play this mod with my friend (2 players) and only the host player can see the grey buttons (battle interface, initiative tracker, game setup), the text on the party sheet and the monster health bars. We have tried both ways, it's the same.

The joining player can't see these at all.

How could we fix it? Thanks.

I`m not sure how this had happened. have you tried switching between you being the host and your friend to see if this also happens to you?

Yes, we have tried it both ways. It's always the joining player who can't see these UI elements (and the party sheet. We could see the edited text on the character's sheets though).

This is weird and unfortunate. We don't have a clear answer for now since it didn't happened before, but we`ll look into it and try to fix it if it`s a mod problem.

hey, the 'friend' here. If it helps: I can actually interact with the Party Sheet, can unlock then move it but I can't write in any text nor I can see when he edits it. These apply only when I'm the non-hosting player of course. When I'm the host all is fine working like a charm - but then my friend has these issues,

With the help of a third friend we figured out, that the problem must be my computer. When I used my laptop instead of my PC everything worked fine for everyone, we could play all 3 together, no matter who hosted.

But if I use my PC:
- When I hosted the scripted UI didn't appear for them
- When friend #1 hosted scripted UI didn't load for me, but for friend #2 it did
- When friend #2 hosted scripted UI didn't load for me, but for friend #1 it did

The interesting thing is I joined 3 public games and all 3 loaded fine for me.
My friend joined 2 public games and NONE of those worked for him.

I have reinstalled TTS 3 times, reinstalled to a different hard drive, turned on/off steam cloud saving, deleted my save folder, verified game files, nothing helped :(

it musst be something with the XML UI. not much games use these feature thats why you mostly can join public games without a problem.
i think it is some sort of configuration... did you checked something in the configuration of your TTS?
maybe check out what is different in the configuration from laptop and pc

Yes I checked, they are the same. I checked the workshop mod folder on both computers, it's the same json file for the mod.

By joining public games I meant Gloomhaven - Fantasy setup mod.
The same happened with the Frosthaven one (which also uses these grey buttons/UI).
We can play other games fine.
When I join public GH - Fantasy Setup mod games everything loads for me perfectly, but for my friend it did not.

But when the two friends play together and I try to join, or when I host and they try to join we have an issue.
I will list all cases, they are all about GH - Fantasy Setup mod:
- I host with my PC -> doesn't work for friend #1 & #2
- I host with my laptop -> works fine for everyone
- Friend #1 hosts -> works for friend #2, doesn't work for my pc
- Friend #1 hosts -> works for friend #2 & for my laptop
- Friend #2 hosts -> works for friend #1, doesn't work for my pc
- Friend #2 hosts -> works for friend #1 & for my laptop
- We join the same public GH-FS mod game hosted by an unknown person -> works for my PC, doesn't work for friend #1 (tried 3 different public games)

Thanks to this post we finally figured it out:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/286160/discussions/3/2999900467539831474/

In Windows the regional settings have to be the SAME language for every player. My friends had Hungarian regional settings, I had the English one. I switched to Hungarian and now it works for me too.

This also explains why public games (hosted by non-Hungarians) loaded for me, but for my friends, it did not.

I'm friends with the fellow who made the post that helped Farki, and thanks to Farki's post, he was able to get it fixed as well! The specific solution is to follow the instructions here https://support.office.com/en-us/article/change-the-windows-regional-settings-to-modify-the-appearance-of-some-data-types-edf41006-f6e2-4360-bc1b-30e9e8a54989 to change the regional settings to English US (probably others like UK would work just as well)

Now we can all play and everything is great again!
