Proper Repacking Technique
Hello! I have a (hopefully) quick question about repacking characters to save changes for future games. Is there anything special I need to do in terms of modifier cards or the cards that are available to my character, but that I did not use for a scenario?

I ask because I was running a simple test to make sure I understand before bringing in my whole group, and when I packed up the tinkerer, the -2 modifier I removed from his deck was back in the modifier deck. I had put the -2 off the bottom of the table near his character sheet and advanced cards. With removals, should the original card simply be deleted to avoid this error?

Additionally the other character I tested and made no changes to the base modifier deck, when I repacked and then unpacked the character all of the base modifier and replacement modifier cards had all been combined into one giant deck.

Are these things that you just have to work around, or did I do something wrong that prevented the scripting from running correctly?

As I understand, any cards which aren't in your deck get combined into the replacement modifiers deck. Unfortunately, your discard pile also gets combined into the replacement modifiers deck rather than the player deck. So before packing, make sure to return your discards back to your player deck. Everything else should automatically combine into your replacement modifier deck instead.

the repack puts all in the bag again. but the unpack is the problem... the unpack is based on the normal boxes where all is proper named. check out a fresh bag from a class and see how they named... if the names arent like that, it gets problems for the unpack. so in an ideal world you would rename all the stuff like the normal stuff and things you removed you can simply delete. then the unpack of a repacked bag would work. the problem is, if you lay things out i cant know which card goes where. atm i am not saving any positions or so to reduce saves on objects. but if you not name all in a propper way the only thing to know where things belong would be to save positions... i will be thinking of ways around that... if you are not willing to do this you could unpack manually or use a Memory Bag. you can find this mod in the workshop ;)

This helped answer my own questions about the unpacking, as my side deck abilities were getting mixed with my perk modifiers and resized to the ability cards. What I'm not getting though is why item cards do not unpack on the mat where I had them. I would've thought each region on the map would save whatever is in them. Also, whatever I put in the smaller side hand below the main hand gets put back into the main hand. If this is not a bug then could that be a feature added? It would be nice to be able to have my side deck in that smaller hand region and everything goes back instead of being moved to the main hand.

no there will be nothing saved at all... i want to avoid saving to much on objects because this blow up the save file. thats why all got packed in the bag and try to figure out by name what card goes where. but this is not possible for all the stuff thats why it goes to the hands.
if you want you can also use another mod called Memory Bag. with this you get it at the exact position

I made a simple change to repacking that works for me. I created a bag (from the Component -> Tools) to hold collections I don't want the repacking script to automate. Basically, I stack (using "Group" option) and add 3 things: my modifier deck, items, and "river" (cards I don't typically use in scenarios) and add them to the bag. Place the bag out of the player mat area. Remove player - the bag is now tucked inside of the box. The add the player again - the bag will stay inside the box; drag it out and you can quickly place items back how you want them. The key is to make sure the tuck box is the main container, not the new bag you just added. Worked for me!

EDIT: Had some odd behavior keeping the bag inside the player area (sometimes the bag would become the container); setting it off to the side of the player mat has resolved that behavior for me.
