In the base game, each level is isolated, meaning choices don't carry over. This is due to technical limitations, but I'm working on breaking these limitations for the C & D path, where story arcs, endings, environments and plots will significantly change depending on your playstyle. If things work out perfectly, the game will be able to track every single individual character you murder, engage in combat or spare and use that information to change things.
There are no differences in story or dialogue in S1 when you bounce between levels, mostly so the player can get used to and adjusted to the gameplay before being introduced to a more focused and involved plot. The C & D paths are currently planned to be "closed" off from S1 and only be accessed through the Hub or similar means, but I might change my mind later.
There are four main path endings, one secret ending and one easter egg ending. The main path endings are decided by a simple yes/no choice in both paths in certain levels. The Cinderbreathe Camp in the B path gives you the choice, while the Scoutseer Hall in the A path has Jairo offer you another option. I won't tell how the secret ending is triggered, though I'll give a hint: It can be accessed before S1 even starts. This is a canon ending. The easter egg ending can only be accessed through debug cheat commands in a particularly tough fight and is completely non-canon.
Some dialogue (especially gateways) will subtly change, but plotwise everything remains the same regardless of your lethality. This, of course, will not at all be the same for the C path. I'm planning for the entire C path plot to change depending on your playstyle.
In the base game, you have to settle for knocking people out in those 'elimination' levels. In the C path, I'm planning on non-confrontational methods to be unlocked depending on how non-lethal or ghostly you are, and in some cases, you'll even be able to talk your way out of a situation.
Almost every single level has at least two readable books/notes scattered through nooks and crannies that give bits of lore to the player, along with loading screen tips and small dialogue hints. The C & D path will definitely clarify some things, add to the lore and explain more about the factions.
Not in the base game, but the C path will probably have some pretty interesting stuff regarding that idea.
Lorewise, the definitive ending is the B-A ending. Each timeline reveals clues and hints to the bigger picture, but they are all (pretty much) individual stories. Character details and world clues are revealed in some paths, but not others, and etc.
Merlyn is busy at the moment, but when available will be able to make a script that locks Therium-2 levels that haven't already been completed. This will definitely prove essential for the C & D paths.
I'm working on the C path right now, mostly level prototypes and story concepts. I have at least two working, playable levels with some art, but I need to prototype a lot more before I can do anything like start writing dialogue or lore books.
Thanks a ton for playing and supporting Therium-2, it means a lot to me. Hopefully the C & D paths won't take too long to complete, but I'm planning on developing & releasing the C path before any work is started on D.
Now to figure out that secret ending...
Did you figure it out eventually? I'm stumped.
what can you say about level E-B2? There is a script on the wall that says "Reunite me", so I jumped on the front temple door, then used jump-kick trick to seep into the hole (by the way there is another way get to out of the temple: jump to the top of the shrine and hook on the mountain), next I walked through a cave and get out of the temple, I saw the yellow flag, walked through another cave and got into the second temple (script "Reunite me" was reversed, so I think it is some kind of alter-temple), there was nothing in that alter-temple, so I begin to exploring area nearby and meet alter-Jairo. He stand near the concrete plate and won't attack me, so I pushed him to the alter-temple and than real Jairo appeared. Both of Jairo begin to follow me, so I decided to kill real Jairo, after my job was done alter-Jairo tried to grab the corpse of real-Jairo, but he stopped after 3 seconds. So my question is: what was all that for? Where have alter-Jairo wanted to get real-Jairo corpse to? Was reunion ritual completed or I did something wrong?
Definitely an interesting idea for a secret, though. I'll keep it in mind.
Sidenote: No offense but I find this really funny
Dangit, I figured out a way to hop out of the level looking for that secret trigger. Psst, that hole in the wall in that cell with the readable book can, with a nicely timed and angled jump roll, be ragdolled through. The next is to jump out the end of the tunnel so you don't fall off the map. Totally worth it since the way the lighting is set up, it feels like you're on the surface of the moon. Also Jairo.
Not sure if I'm out of the loop here but hey, any news on path C?
Also, any estimate on when C or D will come?
I don't have any good estimate, but it's going to be in development for a long while. For more Therium-2 content, try playing Drika's Story (added in the latest update, 1.4).
