A way to bypass the restriction on grenades?
I know this limitation is hardcoded in the X2DownloadableContentInfo_MetalOverFleshRedux.uc file. And there is no way to remove it through .ini files. This limitation greatly interferes with the Spark Arsenal mod. And judging by the comments, it bothers a lot of people.

Does anyone know how to get around this limitation?

I use both and have no such limitation? Ordinance launcher grants 2 grenade slots as it should. If in doubt, use "fire in the hole" mod to add a GTS perk to add grenade to any class. Or, if you want to override it completely for sparks, add:

AbilityUnlocksGrenadePocket=Overdrive

To any mods "XcomGameData.ini" usually under the section:

[XComGame.X2AbilityTemplateManager]

Which is at the top. For testing I sometimes do it with the "2x ability points" mod:

This is because that mod has a blank "XcomGameData.ini" file and you can just put:

[XComGame.X2AbilityTemplateManager]

AbilityUnlocksGrenadePocket=Overdrive ;any ability a spark has can go here if you just want it for sparks, otherwise change to "loot" or "evac" if you want the pocket for EVERYTHING

Yes, Ordinance launcher grants 2 grenade slots, but I can't equip grenades in these slots... And if i create additional grenade slot (like in your method). Slot was added, but i too cant equip grenade in this slot :D
