Issues I've found.
Figured I'd move my comments, seeing as they can be easily lost.

Right. So, issues.

Whenever I change an existing generic alien into a named character from Mass Effect (i.e. Wrex, Garrus, Liara, with full names and appearance), duplicates of them are then copied into the Non-Human Recruit list after passing some time on the world map. Also copies over their existing class, injuries, loadout, and appearance. It's an exact clone.

This stops new recruits from becoming available when a new month starts, and resets or alters any costs, even with a 20% discount order.

I've tested this twice now, and it's definitely happens. I even waited a month at the start before hiring any aliens, and they restocked like normal. After the second month, I bought three (Asari, Turian, and Salarian). Created Liara, Garrus, and Mordin. Waited at a node for a few days, checked the Non-Human list, and they had been cloned into the list.

This wouldn't be a problem, if it didn't copy the class they had too, as I could just edit them accordingly. But considering you can't respec a class, this is a huge problem.

I'm using all of the Mass Effect AU mods alongside this one, as instructed. I'm not sure if anything else would conflict with this, but everything I'm currently using is listed here:

Something is definitely relating to existing Mass Effect characters. I've just made Nakmor Drak, from Andromeda, and he is now cloned in the list.

Looks like I'm starting over, and removing AU. As nice as it is to have the variation in aliens and their abilities/stats, this is breaking any game where I make my own named Mass Effect characters. Perhaps worth looking into?

It's been a few days, so just shamelessly bumping / checking in. Any clues as to why this could be happening at all? I'd love to be able to play with the ME races, as it makes character development a little more interesting.

Found a way around the issue, should anybody else come across the same thing happening to them. Simply navigate to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\1123588800\Config

Open XComExtraSpecies.ini with any text editor (I use Notepad++), and edit this line:

StartingNumRecruits=2

Insert any number you like (I changed it to 50, just to be on the safe side), then there will be ample alien recruits available. With enough of them, it shouldn't matter if the clone problem occurs again, as there will be plenty to choose from.

So I have all the required mods installed but whenever I launch the game it crashes without even making it to the opening cinematics.

Not sure why you're posting on my thread about that. There is nothing I can do about your game not starting lol.

im getting the same issue too, i get no new non human recruits when i reload a save after the monthly report too. i think this is a bug or something

Yeah, I've been getting this bug as well. Basically, all character pool soldiers that are set to be recruited via allies unknown get duplicated whenever there is a refresh of the list or the save is reloaded.
