When I try to play some of the custom songs using dev mode all I get is silence.

I can't reproduce that behaviour with my files. Is it always the same files? If so, can you send me one? If not, are you loading the files from a local disc or the network?

Well I found out later that they can actually play randomly after a song. I'm pretty sure it's always the same files. I don't know how to send one of them.

Loading issues should be fixed with the new release

Used to function, doesn't anymore. Log:

[HugsLib][ERR] Exception during DoWindowContents: System.ArgumentException: Illegal characters in path.

at System.IO.Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension (System.String path) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

at RimWorld.Dialog_VanillaModSettings.DoWindowContents (Rect inRect) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0
Verse.Log:Error(String)
HugsLib.Utils.ModLogger:ReportException(Exception, String, Boolean, String)
RimWorld.Dialog_VanillaModSettings:DoWindowContents(Rect)
Verse.<WindowOnGUI>c__AnonStorey2C4:<>m__1B1(Int32)
UnityEngine.GUI:CallWindowDelegate(WindowFunction, Int32, GUISkin, Int32, Single, Single, GUIStyle)

Attempting to access the custom music mod settings menu causes this and disallows access.

Can you post a list of files in your music directory? Especially the ones with weird symbols in the name.
J.C Denton Aug 22, 2017 @ 1:01pm
Looking at my music folder, the only symbols are underscores, dashes, numbers, spaces (If you count them), parenthesis, and brackets.
Chais  [developer] Aug 23, 2017 @ 10:59am
The only illegal brackets I can see are '<' and '>'. Parenthesis '(' and ')' should be fine. These matter for the whole path. If you could narrow it down to a name I can see what I can do. The log sadly doesn't contain much useful information.
Also try deleting (or moving) the settings file. Then you should be able to navigate to your music directory and hopefully generate a valid config. For Windows it should live in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\LocalLow\Ludeon Studios\RimWorld by Ludeon Studios\Config

Deleting the config file worked, thanks!

Not sure why, but manually playing a custom track using either the debug menu or the mod settings menu seems to block a track from being played again using either ot those methods.
Chais  [developer] Sep 23, 2017 @ 1:45am
Yup. I'm investigating this. But it's rather hard to debug, as the actual playback is an external method.

I solved the issue where songs only play once. Had to remove on-demand loading for now. This results in a lag spike at the beginning of each game, when the songs are loaded. Once all songs are present performance should be back to normal.

No matter what I do, I can't fix this. I've tried for hours now. I used it before and it ran just fine, but I uninstalled Rimworld and then it suddenly didn't work. I restarted, reinstalled both Rimworld and the mod, deleted the music files, created seperate files to store the game and mod in, and...nothing works.
Chais  [developer] Nov 1, 2017 @ 5:25am
You have a file with an illegal character. Try removing the music and only adding the songs with special characters in the filename one by one. One should trigger this error. Ideally I want the mod to support all filenames the OS allows, possibly limited by XML. So please let me know the filename you find.
Axoghost Nov 1, 2017 @ 7:56am
The problem is that I don't even have it connected to a music folder.
