Technical Questions
I bet you wonder how we did a thing, or why we did it that way.

I can save you a lot of time on that second question: usually we did it that way because we couldn't figure out any other way to get it to work.

But if you have questions about how to do things, Ryan and Dave are technical gurus who love to encourage new modders. Ask questions, and we'll see if we can get you a coherent answer!

In Seattle (where real action begins) that matrix is there for joke? I believe same goes to 2nd murder map, that recover files mission cannot be done? I'm using custom build, adding points to decking. Although I begin with data jack, there is no way to acquire a cyberdeck on those levels.

Looks like a bug in Jake's stash triggers. It should be adding a cyberdeck to your inventory if "datajack is true and decking > 0". Instead, it's using "archetype = decker". I'll add it to the list, and see about adding a vendor.

The matrix node in Barrens has some stuff related to Violet, but nothing critical.

These would be bugs, rather than technical questions... But we'll let it slide. :D

I'll check out the equipment scripting and see why it didn't give you a deck... Do you have/remember what your starting characters stats we're?
ebbpp Jul 27, 2017 @ 5:13pm
I wasn't sure if that was intended or not that's why here, I tried with decking 1 and 3, same result, I have created jack of most trades characters, so I also had 2 to spellcasting, and 3 to quickness, dodge, body, and ranged, rest I left for later.

That's probably what happened... Those types of characters are notoriously hard to equip. Will double check the scripts, see what it would take for a "undefined" archtype to get a cyberdeck.
DaveOfDeath  [developer] Jul 27, 2017 @ 8:39pm
So the equipment allocation triggers specifically check if you have a 'NONE' archtype, and it tries to figure out what is closest to your build.

If you select a magic (Spell-Casting, Conjuring, or Chi Casting) it won't give you a drone or a deck. Going to assume that it was done for early cash balancing. Otherwise you'd just drop one karma in drone control, decking, and then build a mage... and have 2,500¥ worth of stuff to unload that you didn't really want.

Best solution I can think of is to add a 'low-tech decker/rigger' vendor to the barrens area. Not sure if that's a great solution, since starting cash is pretty tight... But it might help catch these kinda hybrid builds that slip through the cracks. Would likely require you to sell off other pieces of your starting gear to be able to afford a cyberdeck/drone.

I used to much having team :). As new vendor is concerned, maybe using existing ones? That dwarf which is "packing her shop" on next street near golden lighter in barrens would fit perfectly IMHO, she could still sell some of the cheapest gear, and she resembles electronic vendor in Dragonfall as well, although money is scarce, player gets money from first teammate in next street, and Sony starting deck costs 250 nuyem? as far as I recall, that should be enough, drones are more expensive, but they are not crucial, without drone player usually have different options, without the deck there is no way one can get into matrix.

As soon as I can get the build I just finished uploaded, there will be a tech vendor in the market (same market that you can 'save' from the thug)
DaveOfDeath  [developer] Jul 28, 2017 @ 4:30pm
Should be updated with a tech vendor in the barrens. Hope that helps.

First of all, thanks for making this amazing mod. I hesitate to ask this, but the starter outfits from Hong Kong have always been a little irritating. Is there anyway to get the starter outfit textures from DMS? It may be more trouble than it's worth, and I may very well be in the minority. I just thought I would ask.

You can... They still exist. Problem is with orcs and trolls, they are so very broken... That's why it's safer to go with the HK apparel.

And thank you for playing it... And providing feedback.

Thanks man. I completely forgot of the Orc and Troll remodel.

No worries. Pesky models we're remapped, so thats why their heads are sunk, and arms are too long. (And why the outfits no longer fit)

This is a problem with the core game, not your mod, and a relatively small one, but it does irritate me a bit. If I am trying a weird build, I'll often choose the no template option and distribute the points myself. Unfortunately if you are making, for example, an adept/mage or a mage/shaman hybrid you will be saddled with a pistol and smg in the flashback scene, despite having no points in ranged combat. One such adept ended up punching the enemy to death, especially regrettable, because it is set up to be a self-buffing sword user. Is there any way to tamper with the load out? Just asking...

Yes. But each of those custom gearsets need to be determined, added, and removed. Only to requip you two scenes later with Jake's safe. The problem is balancing. If you put one point I to rifles, shotguns, decking, rigging, and magic... Those scripts would need to decide what your character was trying to be. Otherwise you end up with a cyberdeck, a drone, a rifle, a scattergun, and an armload of spells. Then you sell off what you don't want, and effectively start with 10x the cash of any other build.
