[Guide] Adding New Models
Note: This guide is not about creating your own custom Live 2D models; rather is about importing pre-built Live 2D characters created by others.

Images will be added at some point in the future.

This will act as a basic guide to add Live 2D models to Neptune Live 2D.

  1. You will need to download a pre-built Live 2D model. There are several that have already been made by community members; notably Nepgear by C.Lo, Noire by Beat Hazardous TL, and Blanc by adam_odell.

  2. Extract the files that were downloaded into a folder; best practice is to name the folder after the character you are putting into it.

  3. Open the Neptune Live 2D folder (Either go to the Wallpaper Engine UI and right-click on the wallpaper, selecting "Open in explorer" or go to the Workshop folder in the steamapps folder, find content, then 431960, then 1078208425) and open the "live2d" folder.

  4. Either drag the character folder into the live2d folder or copy the folder and paste it into the live2d folder (I recommend doing this, having a backup copy is never a bad thing).

  5. Open the character folder and find the .model file(s). Choose whichever one that you want, and make certain that the name of that file and the folder that it is in are the same.
For example, the "blanc" folder contains 3 .model files; classic (Hyperdimension "Winter" variant), normal (Ultradimension "Autumn" variant), and swimwear. To have the "normal" .model file load, it would have to be changed to "blanc" to match the folder.

  6. Open the Wallpaper's menu by clicking the menu circle and go to the character tab (the icon that looks like a shirt).

  7. Click on the "add file" button, which will open the folder. If you have to, navigate to the live2d folder.

  8. Open the folder for the character you wish to add and select the .model file which you chose. Double click it or click open when the file is highlighted. This will add the character into the wallpaper.
From this point, you can adjust the character's settings to what you desire.
