Calmer Colors - Armor (WoTC Compatible)

Description
After using a mod that randomized the look of rookies, I noticed that too many of them reminded me of deranged cartoon characters. In an effort to tone things down a bit, I made changes to the color palettes related to hair, eyes, and armor for my own games and decided to make them available for other users.

What does this mod do?

This mod makes changes to the games color choices related to your characters' armor customization. I essentially took the original game color pallette and reduced their saturation levels or made them darker. At the same time, I included additional blue/green colors since the original selection didn't really have many choices.

Compatibility:

Due to how mods are now handled when loading the game, you'll need to use the Alternative Mod Launcher to get this mod to work with WOTC.

This mod directly changes the color palette in the base game so unless you are using another armor color mod, there shouldn't be a conflict. I've been asked about having this mod work with other color mods. As far as I can tell, the only way to modify the color palettes is to replace them with a new version. It's not like other game configuration files where you can add and remove parts.

Note that since this mod changes the color palette, your current characters may be affected. I tried to keep as many of the unchanged color options in their same order but I did move some colors around to keep them grouped.

11/9/18 - I made some modifications to the basic black colors in both the primary and secondary pallette so they weren't so blue.

I like how you explained the reasoning behind the palette substitution rather than defaulting to saying "It just won't work".

Ok just wondering, because I know one million colours needed a separate plugin to make it work on sparks so I wasn't sure if that was the case here as well.

When I was working on these color changes, I only found the three color palettes (hair, eyes, armor) so they could be tied together but I can't say for certain.

Do these changes affect spark colors as well?

Unfortunately only one color mod can be active at a time for each type (armor, hair, and eyes).

Would this work with the million colors armor mod?

If you still working on these mods, please consider a new one that add more Calmer and Natural Skin Colors. I think the game could use some real pale, golden and darker tones.

Very nice mod! I'm keeping the bright color options for the hair, but I really like the reduced saturation for the armor!

These colors are THE BEST! They have solved all my issues with default XCOM colors. If you are on the Workshop looking for additional color packs because the default ones are so ugly, look no further: this is the mod for you!
