(9F) Liverpool-Sheffield Express

Description
A fictional scenario loosely based on a 1960 real timetable of the Woodhead line. You will drive a testing run with a BR Standard 9F, hauling a Liverpool-Sheffield express passenger from Manchester to Sheffield.

DLC needed:
- The Woodhead line
- BR Standard 9F
- European assets

It is likely, but not documented, that some 9F saw use on this line in real life, because there were at least three 9F allocated near Manchester in 1964. (Thanks Paul for the information)

Hi neldot. Great scenario, really enjoyed this. I travelled this route, many times when I was a kid and the line is sadly missed but not forgotten. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes. :steamhappy:

I just played just scenario and enjoyed it, but at the end, the train was routed into the Sheffield platform 5 in a very weird way, leaving the last coaches standing on another track, not next to the platform.
Perhaps another waypoint marker, and maybe a scenario specific marker, would have prevented this, to correctly route the train into Sheffield platform 5?

A cracking scenario,as they say in Yorkshire. Really enjoyable with a loco steaming well and really upto the task. I found the AI traffic good and with the scenery unfolding along the way it took me back to my days travelling up the valley and using the firing range on the opposite side whilst in the school cadet force during the 1950's and the views of the rail traffic going up and down the line. I will certainly play this one again and probably swap out some of the locos for some of the Eastern types that I have in my collection. One small carp is that we are running under unfitted express freight headlamps and not express passenger ones of a lamp over each of the buffers. This apart thank you so much for your work, which is excellent and I look forward to more, Bill B.

Hi Fairrosamund, thank you for playing my scenario!
I agree that the train not fitting in platform 5 may be a bit unpleasant to see, however platforms too short for long trains happen in real life too, due to service costraints. By the way, all the Sheffield platforms are a bit on the short side, I preferred the platform 5 to avoid conflicts with the AI trains paths.
