Description
Epic Campaigns: From Dust to Glory
Standalone Grand Campaign Overhaul (Works Great with "Dust and Glory" Battle Mod)

⚠️ Warning:
This mod greatly increases the difficulty on Very Hard and Legendary difficulty settings. Prepare for a much tougher challenge as the AI becomes more efficient and strategic. This mod is perfect for players who want a more challenging but rewarding experience without losing the vanilla feel of the original game.

🌟 Overview
Turn your grand campaigns into truly epic journeys of strategy, power, and intense warfare. Epic Campaigns: From Dust to Glory revamps the grand campaign with major AI improvements, increased difficulty, and more immersive gameplay, making each decision matter.

🔥 Key Features
Smarter AI Recruitment
The AI now recruits more powerful and varied armies, bringing a diverse mix of elite and specialized units to the battlefield. Prepare for tough fights, with AI armies including more heavy infantry, and strategically challenging compositions.

Faction-wide Bonuses from Military Support Buildings
Bonuses from military buildings (such as armor or weapon damage) now apply faction-wide, meaning any faction that controls these buildings will enjoy increased power and better overall performance.

Increased Research Bonuses
Buildings now provide a larger research bonus, helping both the player and AI advance faster, making technology a more crucial aspect of strategy.

AI Difficulty Tweaks

Happiness & Food: AIl AI factions get a boost to happiness and food at higher difficulty levels, making them harder to destabilize.

Research Bonus: The AI also receives a research bonus, accelerating its technological progress, and keeping it competitive in the late game.

Lower AI Army Unkept and Recruitment: AI on harder difficulty levels gets stronger bonus to army upkeep and recruitment , ensuring that it maintains a threatening presence throughout the campaign.

Increased Spearmen in AI Armies
The AI now fields a higher percentage of spearmen, which works seamlessly with the Dust and Glory battle mod, where spears are made more effective and valuable. This combo forces players to rethink their strategies and adapt to the new threat. FActions like Rome or Iberians still use a higher proportion of sword infantry.

Increased Income for Major Factions
Main factions like Rome, Carthage, and others receive an income boost, allowing them to build larger, more powerful armies that rival the player’s strength.

To summarise:

Faction-wide bonuses from military support buildings

Increased research bonuses from buildings

Higher AI bonuses to happiness, research, food, and army upkeep in higher difficulties

Increased income for major factions like Rome or Carthage

AI now fields more spearmen, I recommend you use my Dust and Glory battle mod.

Major increase in AI army composition variety, making battles harder and more strategic.

Pro Tip: I highly recommend installing a 4 Turns per Year mod to further enhance the pacing and immersion of your campaigns. With more time to strategize, the higher difficulty becomes even more rewarding!

A little advice: Don’t declare too many wars 😄

160 turns using this mod and the experience was amazing. Just 2 things: this mod conflicts with mods that change edicts numbers and armies quantities and The AI doesn't recruit many armies The maximum that I fought was 4 or 3 armies even for bigger empires late campaign. But it is a great mod for vanilla experience. Sorry for my grammar, English is not my first language.

@oujosh it will make the ai more agressive in very hard and legendary difficulties

Besides the AI having less upkeep and buffs, the AI didnt seem any more aggressive than usual. Does this mod just give bonuses,or does is it suppose to increase the aggressiveness too?

Great to know it works well. I think I am going to tune down the ability of the ai to recruit armies slightly. Legendary and very hard difficuklties will still be very challenging, but know it is near impossible to survive.

Update, So far I dont see any problem at all and AI's behavior matches the description of the mod. Greek factions become strong due the high points of hoplites, Rome as well. I am having this campaign that British was my alliance (i am rome) and Epirus declare war on me, peace treaty was signed later but british did not. So I can see Epirus and British both sailing from england to Greece and Greece to England:steammocking:

Guys I am going to reduce the bonus to ai in campaign slightly, it is too hard atm. It will still be a lot harder than vanilla, but at the moment it is just not possible to survive.
