[B42] HDCP Immersive Vehicle Paint

Description
Turn Your Garage into a Real Automotive Workshop!
Are you the kind of person who can't stand seeing a scratched-up, blood-covered car in the middle of an apocalypse? Then this mod was made for you!
With this mod, you can now sand, prime, and paint vehicles with all the finesse a true car enthusiast deserves!

Warning: This mod can be installed on both new and existing saves, but in existing saves, players might not find the items if they've already visited the common spawn areas.

Mod Loader: This mod should be loaded before all compatible vehicle mods.

Requirements to become a paint job master:
  • Read the Automotive Painting Magazine
  • Be in a covered location (e.g., garage) - no air bubbles, alright?
  • Wash the vehicle if it's covered in blood
  • Repair the bodywork if it's damaged
  • Use personal protective equipment
  • Have a sanding block
  • Have enough spray primer
  • Have enough spray paint in your favorite color

Each car takes a different amount of time depending on its size.

Heads up: the process is loud - make sure you're in a safe spot before starting!

Where to find the materials?

Magazine: where you normally find other automotive magazines
Sanding block: tool-related locations
Spray paint:
New: stores, storages, mail packages...
Used: garages, homes, vehicles... even artistic zombies!

Tips:
I'm not saying recycling should be a top priority in the apocalypse, but hey - why not earn some metal welding XP by cutting up empty spray cans with scissors?
Spray paint boxes use a gacha system - giving you a better chance of getting multiple cans of the same color.
Use your common sense to find sprays - I made the loot spawns as realistic as possible!

Future Updates:
  • More windows = less time and fewer materials
  • Window masking with newspapers and tape
  • If you don't paint it... it rusts!

Known Compatibility Mod List:
If a compatible mod isn't listed here, please leave a comment below with the mod link, and I will add it to the list later. If this mod isn't compatible with your favorite car mod, kindly ask the vehicle mod's author to implement the simple compatibility script discussed here.

For modders:
If you create recolorable vehicles and want them to be supported by this mod, check out this discussion.

Looking for a less hardcore experience?
If you just want to change vehicle colors quickly without all the realism and prep work, check out my other mod:

Vehicle Color UI

It's a simpler, more accessible alternative for survivors who just want to paint and go!

The minimum is 60%

What's the minimum percentage level for bodywork? Getting EVERY part to 100% just to paint it would be a tad ridiculous.

Pz players do anything but irl stuff

Any modded vehicle compatibility?

Is there a chance lowering the spray can spawn rate can result on empty shelves where said spray cans would've spawned?
Cyrisa Sep 28 @ 9:14am
I was referring to the default mechanics loot set to high. The "spray spawn rate" is default.

@Prof.Liebstrumpf read the mod description.

@Cyrisa In this game, the item spawn rate affects the appearance of other items. For a more realistic experience, I recommend using the default setting. The high setting was created for players who only want paints to drop. Please try the other configurations, and if you don’t find an option that meets your needs, let me know.

As for the 3D models, I’d like to integrate them as well, but I don’t have the knowledge to do so. If anyone knows a 3D modeler willing to contribute to this project, please send me a message.

Can the spawn rate be toned down? I have vehicle parts set to high spawn rate and the category only spawns in paint now. About my only complaint for the mod. Some 3d models would be good for the paint. =P
