Funky Kong

Funky Kong storms onto the shores of Aether! A simple yet stylish brawler, Funky Kong emphasiszes strong mobility, tricky burst movement options, and cool combos that befit the legendary speed demon surfer dude. Sporting excellent close quarters options paired with tricky movement tools across his kit, he is equipped to get in and force a flurry of strikes that keep opponents guessing up close before blasting them away with a myriad of solid finishers! However, Funky is a large target with lackluster direct poking options who lacks ranged tools or stage control entirely, forcing him to play as aggressive as possible in order to make his mark. If you want a stylish and flexible offensive power house to trick on your opponents with, then Funky Kong is your guy!


Funky Kong pulls one of his bazookas in one arm while attempting to grab the opponent with the other. If successful, he stuffs the opponent into his bazooka, aims it, and then blasts them away! A close quarters command grab that sports solid kill power, making it a solid finisher option that also gives the option to aim it backwards by holding back during the grab animation. Funky can also grab projectiles with this move, causing him to fire back a flaming coconut from it that scales in power depending on the projectile he snagged with it!

Funky Kong jumps onto his Flame Runner motorcycle and boosts forward! This multi hit burst movement special is a tricky offensive tool with multiple followup attacks depending on which button combination you input after traveling a certain amount of distance.

• Drift - By holding Neutral/Forward and the Attack/Special button, Funky will quickly drift to a stop while sticking his leg out. A fast sweep kick which launches opponents upwards for combos, making it an excellent tool for starting or extending Funky's offense or for quickly getting off the bike. This can also be performed by holding backwards.
  
  
• Wheelie - By holding Down and the Attack/Special/Strong button, Funky will lift his front tire into the air before slamming it down, picking up speed before coming to a halt. A long ranged horizontal followup that deals good damage and sports solid horizontal kill power, making it useful for carrying opponents off the stage and securing kills off the side. This can also be performed by pressing Foward and the Strong button
  
  
• Trick - By holding Up and the Attack/Special/Strong button, Funky will pull out his Surfboard and do a stunt off of his bike, picking up some waves in the process. A rising multi hit attack that deals good damage and sports solid vertical kill power, making it useful as an extra mobility tool and option to secure kills off the top. This can also be performed manually by pressing the Jump button or automatically when going off of a ledge,

Funky Kong jumps onto the Flame Runner and boosts forward, spinning in a circle as he goes. A slower variant of the grounded version that acts as a powerful yet risky kill move and horizontal recovery option that puts him into pratfall on whiff.

Funky pulls out his surfboard before doing a stylish flip backwards with it, kicking up a large crest of water as he does so before ending up in the air. A tricky movement special that is useful for committal mobility and combo extensions due to it launching opponents inwards. This move also sports a monsterously powerful sweetspot on the concentrated waves just before he launches up into the air, enabling early kills if you can get into the proper position to use it.

Funky equips himself with a Rocket Barrel belt and then slaps both of the barrels to propel himself upwards. Holding the special button down on startup causes him to play the barrels aggressively to build up power, increasing the vertical travel distance and kill power of the attack once he releases the move. Pressing Parry during this charge up allows Funky to store the charge for later, giving him faster access to the higher distance, higher kill power full charged blast if you can time the cancel properly

- Funky Kong's Dattack, Kong Roll, is a solid burst movement option that can go off ledges, allowing him to double jump cancel out of the endlag if he does so.

- Funky Kong's Fair, Wind Up Punch, is a slower, high powered uppercut that sports a devestating sweetspot on its first active frame that packs one hell of a punch. Holding the button down as he spins his arm allows him to empower that sweetspot, dealing more damage and knockback the longer it's charged!
