Faraday Gyre-Future Era Wonder

Description
Overview
Faraday Gyre is a Future Era Wonder that provides global power supply and diplomatic influence to all civilizations.
However, its military potential means that even well-intentioned actions to combat climate change could destabilize international order and trigger global crises.

This technology was developed to serve humanity, yet it may also become a tool of conflict and coercion.
How it will be used is entirely up to you.

Intent & Purpose
This is my fifth Future Era Wonder project.
The previous wonders—Gene Vault, Stellar Codex, Panopticon, and Master Control—were designed to block Science Victory, accelerate Science Victory, promote Domination Victory, and implement Synthetic Technocracy, respectively.

This time, I have created a wonder that simultaneously affects power, diplomacy, and military deterrence. The Faraday Gyre serves as a global energy source for all civilizations, but at the same time, it is a potential weapon that can disrupt international stability.

In Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth, the original Faraday Gyre was merely a wonder that reduced maintenance costs. But on Earth, with its unstable geopolitical balance, even peaceful technology can escalate into an international crisis.

So, it’s time to choose again.
Will you endure diplomatic fractures to uphold global trust and cooperation?
or, now that things have gone south, will you wield military power to dominate the world?

Core Features
✅ Power and Diplomatic Benefits:
Provides +6 Power to all cities in all civilizations.
If you are the Suzerain of a City-State, gain +200% [ICON_Favor] Diplomatic Favor per turn.

❌ Diplomatic Penalty:
All civilizations lose -5 [ICON_Favor] Diplomatic Favor per turn for each Flood Barrier they own.
In other words, every attempt to establish defensive infrastructure is met with global distrust.

🏛 Construction Requirements:
Must be built on the Ocean (not on Coast or Lake).

Unique District: Faraday Gyre(Weaponized)
When Faraday Gyre is constructed, automatically spawns on the same tile.
This district possesses defensive capabilities and long-range bombardment with a range of 40.
However, like standard city bombardments, its attacks can be obstructed by mountains or hills.

Civilopedia
The Faraday Gyre is a city-sized electromagnet capable of creating an immense source of low-voltage power that can supply modest motors and batteries. The massive vortex turbine artificially-induces an oceanic gyre seeded with millions of metallic micro-filaments. When properly applied, the magnetic force from this phenomenon induces a significant electric current.

Over 200,000 cubic meters of water surges through the turbine at 60 kilometers per hour, every minute. Producing the tremendous rotational force and perpetual spin capable of creating a catastrophic maelstrom was relatively simple compared to building the structure that would contain it. The answer was found through continuum mechanics and involved water being diverted and recycled into a pressurized stream. Observed from a safe distance underwater, one would witness a vigorous whirlpool collapsing into a spherical point; a globe of tumultuous force.

During the development of the Faraday Gyre, the station's design and purpose was evaluated for potential military applications. The idea was to convert the station into a mobile, submersible capable of consuming naval vessels and settlements, as well as devastating coastal cities. However, cooperation between multiple sponsors was required to create the initial stations and the tactical design was abandoned.

The counter-rotors located near the top edges of the structure that filter and reprocess the micro-filaments back into the turbine create the pleasant side effect of releasing fresh, scintillating mists into the city above. These thin sheets of spray are referred to as "ghosts". It is not uncommon to find children chasing them through the streets on a warm day, unaware of the monumental crushing forces that birth the gossamer veils.

..but the point is that the facility was at least once considered for military use during the design process. If international cooperation weakens, no one knows what purpose this great artificial heart of the Earth will serve.

Strategic Value
1️⃣ Global Power Supply & Diplomatic Influence
-Provides clean energy to all civilizations, enhancing industrial and economic growth.
-Suzerain bonus makes it easier to dominate the World Congress.
-Important Note: This wonder supplies power to ALL civilizations—including your rivals.
2️⃣ Advanced Defense & Attack Capabilities
-Weaponized Faraday Gyre functions as a defensive district with a range of 40.
-At this point, the Faraday Gyre is no longer just an energy source—it is a military deterrent.
3️⃣ Diplomatic Consequences of Global Defense Expansion
-All civilizations lose -5 Diplomatic Favor per turn for each Flood Barrier they own.
-This means that even seemingly innocent efforts to protect cities from rising sea levels are perceived as efforts to counteract a potential energy-based superweapon.
-In the long term, as more civilizations try to adapt to rising sea levels, the World Congress may become completely paralyzed.

Additional Information
✔ Requires Gathering Storm DLC.
✔ Compatible with most mods.
✔ Fully localized in English & Korean.

Final Thoughts
The Faraday Gyre is not just a clean energy wonder.
Technically speaking, as in Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth,it is still fundamentally an underwater power plant. However, in the unstable geopolitical landscape of the Future Era,it has been reinterpreted as both a global energy facility and a high-level strategic weapon.

Early on, players will benefit from supplying power to the world and reaping immense diplomatic rewards.
However, as the game progresses, even the smallest political actions will be scrutinized, and at some point, the World Congress itself may collapse under diplomatic gridlock.

Through this wonder, I wanted to show just how fragile the balance of international order truly is.

So.... will fix this in an update soon.

@ThinkingNut
One of my intentions was to blow away this unfairness with a city range attack with a range of 40. In other words, if you own all of your rivals' cities, there is no longer any unfairness.

However, will also allow for additional benefits to be given to players who build, so that unfairness can be overcome through 'peaceful' means.

I like the concept of this very much - but there's one thing I have a gripe with: +6 power to rival cities feels unfair for the player who spent his/her resources on this wonder. If they did not contribute anything to the building process, why should they get the rewards for free?

My humble suggestions:

1. Either the AI gives out a certain amount of gold upon the completion / during the building process of the wonder (similar to Emergency Aid Requests) - this would be in line with the "multiple sponsors" idea within the description - OR

2. Only the player that built the wonder gets the power bonus.
