Armed Oil Rig with Helo MOD

An armed oil rig, with a fully functional helicopter platform. Why is only one platform available? Well, because the other one happens to be currently occupied by a ZU-23 insect-repellant twin-barreled autocannon (yes, mosquitoes are big this time of year). There are also two .50 cal HMGs, just for self-defense against would be pirates…

The oil rig comes in two flavors: Iranian (default) with a SH-3D and Iraqi with a SA-321 Super Frelon. These helos are, of course, just here to innocently ferry workers from the mainland and to allow the crew to take a leisurely stroll from time to time.

Oil rigs are things of beauty, not only do they help make the world a warmer place, they also provide ideal platforms to install all types of hardware. Of course, using civilian infrastructures for military purpose would be a flagrant violation of international law, and nobody would be devious enough to do so in real life. Isn't it? But Sea Power is not real life, so don't be ashamed to download this mod and use armed oil rigs to spice up your scenarios (and in any case you could always claim plausible deniability).

Design notes: There is a minor visual glitch: The in game helicopter take-off and landing animations are not designed for platforms without hangars, so the helicopter just pops out of nowhere when spawning and vanishes when despawning. Other types of helicopters than the SH-3D and the SA-321 can land on the platform but for some (unknown) reason those with skids cannot take-off from it (maybe it has something to do with the game animations). So I purposely reduced the list of supported helos to the following one: usn_sh-3h,irina_sh-3d,fr_sa-321,usn_ch-46,wp_ka-25,wp_ka-25ts,wp_ka-27,usn_sh-2f.

Note: If you publish a scenario using this mod, do not forget to indicate in your description that in order it works the players need to subscribe to this mod first ;).

Important (about mods and mods use):
This mod has been tested and is running perfectly on my computer (i7-11800H @ 2.30 Ghz - 16 GB RAM - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050) with no other mod enabled. However, since they are as many computer configurations than computer users, it's unfortunately impossible to guarantee it will work on yours.
Be aware that by installing mods for Sea Power, you are modifying your game experience from the original intended product which is (as of Jan 2025) still in EARLY ACCESS. Therefore, later game updates/patches may cause this mod to be deprecated. Although it is very unlikely, the presence of other enabled mods might cause conflicts, and the more enable mods on your computer, the greater the chance of conflict. So, to sum it up, USE MODS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
If you wish to clean uninstal this mod make sure to follow these steps: 1) Uncheck this mod in the mod manager. 2) Click on Accept. 3) Unsubscribe. Then make sure the mod's file is no longer in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1286220 folder.
