Description
Allows digging through walls to create and expand basements. To dig, you need a shovel and some sacks to carry the dug out dirt in. You will need to sledgehammer any walls or pull up any flooring in the way first. Digging will tire you out very quickly.

Future features
While it is to the best of my knowledge stable, this mod is still WIP. Intended future features are:
  • Building stairs upwards out of underground areas.
  • Stability system that requires you to build sufficient supports or risk a lethal cave-in.
  • 'Minecraft' mode with underground ores.
  • Allow building new walls directly on top of dirt walls.

Known issues
  • Excavated areas are not considered indoors, so you will be rained on. This seems to be a hard limitation of the game, but I am still researching ways to bypass this.
  • Digging more than one layer down causes extreme visual bugs, so it is disabled by default.
  • Some flooring cannot be removed or dug through.

It allows you to make your own tomb to die in after becoming infected.

i dont really see the point of using this mod if it doesnt even give you a roof.
its more like a very large pit

This mod is a pretty fun companion piece for Slayer's One Week, shame that the player made basements are considered to be outdoors as the post nuke stage makes everything cold for 3 months but is still manageable. But yeah, I hope TIS creates an update which makes it easier for modders to code new basement rooms as indoors, or just label floor -1 as being indoors in general.

Alright, thanks.

I'm probably not alone in saying the community would greatly benefit from a write-up/steam guide of some kind on how the region manager and basements interact, and how that change could be implemented manually. If you have any specifics on that i'd def give it a read. Mod speed seems to always surpass the development of this game

it's not possible, the region manager doesn't run underground so rooms will never form there. vanilla basements can create rooms directly but mods don't have the ability to do this

Seems like all we would have to do is apply the same parameters on the player constructed basement that are applied on the auto generated basements, no?

If the vanilla generation does it, there has to be a way to update the map afterwards too.

I play on cryogenic winter, so I actually cant use this mod without a roof

don't waste your time doing stuff like that, it straight up isn't possible in the current engine, the game will NEVER consider an underground area indoors or covered from rain, it's not an oversight in the mod it is literally impossible

Just spent an hour fucking around in debug mode on B42 trying to add a roof. No luck.

Mod is pretty much worthless without a fix
