This mod is in a VERY early stage of development.

Golden Dominion introduces an exciting new gameplay experience in Crusader Kings III, allowing you to become a landless patrician in a merchant republic! Unlike traditional rulers, your power and influence come not from land or armies, but from your status as a wealthy merchant.

Rise to prominence within the Republic and manage your family’s fortune.

1. Play as a Landless Patrician
For the first time, you can experience Crusader Kings III as a landless character. As a Patrician, your influence is built through wealth and prestige, rather than controlling land. You may not hold a county or duchy, but your merchant family wields power through gold, diplomacy, and strategic alliances within the Republic.

Unique Patrician Gameplay: While landless, you remain a crucial player within the Republic, using your wealth to grow influence and maintain your family’s status.

2. Merchant Family
You may not control land, but you control your family's wealth. Build your fortune through trade deals, favors, and clever investments. The better you manage your family’s resources, the greater your influence becomes in the Republic.

Family Fortune Management: Manage the wealth of your family, ensuring your heirs inherit not just gold, but the means to survive and thrive as patricians.

3. Elect the Doge
Though you do not hold land, you and your fellow Patricians have the power to elect the Doge, the ruler of the Republic. Your wealth and standing among the other families influence this process. Secure alliances, outmaneuver rivals, and work behind the scenes to ensure a favorable Doge sits on the throne, one who will reward your family for its loyalty—or perhaps become the Doge yourself.

Merchant Family Elections: The Doge is chosen by the powerful merchant families, and your ability to gain support will be the key to maintaining influence in the Republic.

4. Conflict with the Narentine Pirates
As a powerful merchant family in Venice, you will need to navigate the treacherous waters of the Adriatic Sea, where the infamous Narentine pirates wreak havoc on Venetian trade routes. In the earliest bookmark, Golden Dominion introduces a unique conflict between Venice and the Narentine pirates, a constant threat to your family’s wealth and the Republic's dominance. Will you support military action against them or enlist mercenaries to protect your convoys?

  • Trade Expansion
More trade events, anti-piracy, mechanics, rivalries between different plutocracies.
  • More Events
Right now there are not that many events and I would like to add more.
  • Political Schemes
Schemes between merchant families to exert power.
  • Contracts for Adventurers and Merchant Families
I'd like to add some special contracts available for adventurers in plutocratic realms.
  • More Domicile Buildings
There's a limited amount of domicile buildings and I would like to add more.
  • Vassal Contracts
  • Laws for Plutocracies
  • Activities
  • Expanded Election & Campaigning

  • Can you update the mod?
If there's a new update I'll be updating the mod as soon as I get the oppurtunity. Currently compatible with: 1.16.2
  • Is this mod compatible with X mod?
If you put this mod at the bottom of the load order, it might work, but no features are integrated with other mods.
  • Can you make a compatch for X?
Right now, I'm focusing on development rather than compatibility with other mods.
  • I have found a bug.
Great, just report it in the comments. Make sure you don't have other mods loaded.

Special thanks to the CK3 Mod Co-op Discord for being very helpful.

Are you experiencing that issue on a fresh save?

Is there any way to get your estate back after it disappears?

Sure, I'll take a look at that. That makes sense.

Would it be possible to have the duchy of the capital (if it exists) be transferred to the successor upon election? Sort of like how in Byzantium, Thrace always goes with the emperor.

The successor does get the capital city of the republic, but the duchy with it (in this case, Barcelona) doesn't go to the new doge. Kinda messes up the insides of the realm although it's not mechanic-breaking.

could you check if the mod is the reason for the lack of skill in the sedentary ruler?

I'm glad to hear that.

played for a long period of time, did not notice the bug with the disappearance of the estate. It seems that the fix worked as it should. thank you author.

Yeah, it's a bit hardcoded by PDX. I did try to encourage it a bit more. I recommend giving land to landless patricians, then they will marry a lot more.

Yep it's fixed! Another thing that seems to be happening (that I've reported before) is how patricians don't really like to get married, so still kinda an issue. So they end up having their lines die out and I get all their stuff. I do have mods on so I might try running without it to see what happens.

I uploaded an update that fixes it for the most common occurance of losing the domicile. Let me know, if you still experience this at times.
