MTL NXT OS is* the most advanced standalone vehicle infotainment system on the entire Stormworks Workshop. It displays almost any info you would need in a car whilst still looking extremely dashing. (hehe)

It is also extremely customizable with a bunch of options from regular stuff, like measurement units, vehicle fuel type and vehicle name and some less useful options like a fully customizable theme colour and a selection of 9 stunning wallpapers + the ability to add your own.

The Gauge Cluster has a simple yet informative design, giving you access to essential info right in front of you.
Also it has a built in adjustable zoom map to help with navigation.




The Center Console is where most of the fun stuff about NXT OS resides. In the bottom right corner there are 4 apps that you can selectively uninstall if, for example you don't care about the weather:
- Extra
- Car Info
- Weather
- Map
You can also press the home button to return to the main screen. There is a built in tutorial that reminds you of the controls when the microcontroller is spawned in. (can be disabled)




The Maps App is pretty self explanatory. It's a map with adjustable zoom and, unlike the gauge cluster map, adjustable position, so you can tap on the map to move it around then tap the R button to recenter it.




The Weather App shows the current fog, rain and temperature (C / F) whilst also drawing a really cute icon representing the current weather condition and time.




The Car Info App is one of the more useful apps that NXT OS houses. It gives live info about your vehicle like fuel efficiency (L/100km, %/100km, MPG, %/100mi), range (km/mi), battery and fuel (L / gal) / motor battery. It also displays the name of your vehicle so you never forget what masterpiece you are driving.




The Extra App is very special. It allows you to connect any video feed to it and have it show up when you open the app. You can connect cameras to it, or even entire other microcontrollers, like advanced engine info displays, drive mode selectors, the Sawyer News network, or whatever else you want to do with it. The R2 update added touch output which expands development possibilities even further.

If you updated your vehicle to NXT OS R2.5 you will see that other than a bunch of new wallpaper options, there is now the option to make your own wallpaper to make NXT OS truly your own. Steps on how to use:

1. Edit the microcontroller and go to the bottom right part of the work area (as shown in image below).


2. Replace this LUA Script with either your own hand-drawn LUA art or with the script(s) you get from a Stormworks Image To Lua tool found online.


I would personally recommend either the one made by Flaffipony[image-to-lua.flaffipony.rocks], it is easy to use as it usually only needs 1 script for a full image but can be quite laggy. For online use I would recommend the one made by Mr Lennyn[mrlennyn.github.io], it likes to split up an image into up to 14 separate LUA Scripts but it is way less taxing on the server. (I used it to make the default wallpapers)
DO NOT FORGET: downscale your images to 64x64 before running them through the above mentioned tools for best results.
