London Docklands Light Railway

Description
This map is a representation of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) in London, as it was in April 2024. Also included is the mainline railway between London Fenchurch Street and Barking.

DOCKLANDS LIGHT RAILWAY:

The map includes all stations and branches of the April 2024 DLR network. These are listed below with the current number of Trains Per Hour which operate:
- Lewisham to Bank via Canary Wharf, Westferry (12tph);
- Woolwich Arsenal to Bank via Canning Town, Poplar, Westferry (6tph);
- Beckton to Canning Town (12tph), of which 6tph continue to Tower Gateway via Poplar, Westferry;
- Stratford (terminus) to Poplar (trains continue to Canary Wharf at 12tph);
- Stratford International to Canning Town (trains continue to Woolwich Arsenal at 6tph).
The game gets upset when you try to run more than one train per four minutes through a station, but with careful planning it is possible to run a train every three minutes.

The depots at Poplar and Beckton are also included but are represented as platforms, as including every siding and maintenance bay would take too much room. A single-ended turnback loop is provided at Crossharbour and a double-ended turnback loop at Stratford High Street, as per reality. A siding is provided at Royal Victoria as per reality. These are also represented by platforms so that you can route directly to them and include waiting time if required.
A headshunt is provided at Bank to reverse trains as per reality. For added challenge a station platform is *not* provided on this headshunt so you'll need to use shunting commands here.

The track between stations is included and is in the correct current layout to the best of my knowledge within game limitations. The distance between stations is also roughly correct and to scale. Single-track sections are included between Stratford (Terminus) and Pudding Mill Lane, and between Pudding Mill Lane and Bow Church, as per reality. Track crossovers are provided as per reality in roughly the correct locations.

Only manual signals are provided from the start and no research has already been completed, to allow you to progress in the usual way.
The research items for Autoblocks has been removed as none are present on the map. The items for all the More Stations have been removed as all the stations are unlocked from the start. The items for all tracks above 80kph and the Faster Switches item have been removed, as the maximum speed the DLR can operate at is 80kph.

The stations at Cutty Sark, Island Gardens, Canary Wharf, West India Quay, Poplar, Stratford (Terminus), West Ham, Star Lane, and Canning Town, have been provided with space separating some of the game platforms to represent the centre platforms present in real life.

No train contracts are provided "pre-accepted" however Conductor Offices have been placed at all the termini, at the interchange stations of Canary Wharf and Poplar, and at both Poplar and Beckton depots. Contracts are mainly generated between these stations however there is a small chance of contracts being generated to any of the intermediate stations. Contracts for the DLR are offered for COM (commuter) trains only.

The only "error" I'm aware of is that four platforms have been provided at West India Quay where only three exit in real life. This is deliberate to allow you to route trains via the diveunder at the West India Quay/Poplar junctions, as otherwise the game will always force you to go via a platform at West India Quay and thus you will never be able to use the diveunder.

MAINLINE RAILWAY: FENCHURCH STREET TO BARKING

The mainline railway between London Fenchurch Street and Barking is also included. This is mainly to allow you to generate enough Red Points to unlock the Shunting Commands and Shunting Sensor which are needed to efficiently operate Bank station.
Stations are provided at Barking, East Ham, Upton Park, Plaistow, West Ham, Bromley-by-bow, Limehouse, and Fenchurch Street. The route is provided as four-track between Barking and Bromley-by-bow and as two-track between there and Fenchurch Street, as per reality. In the four-track section in reality, the north-most pair of tracks are used for slow/stopping trains and the south-most pair used for fast/non-stopping trains, but this is not enforced by the game and you can use the tracks however you like.
Platforms have been placed on the fast lines at East Ham, Upton Park, Plaistow, and Bromley-by-bow despite not existing in real life, so that you can choose whether trains are routed via the fast lines (north pair) or the slow lines (south pair) rather than just taking whichever the game decides.

A double-ended loop is provided at West Ham and an additional, terminating platform at Plaistow, as per reality.

COM (commuter), REG (regional) and IC (inter-city) contracts are mainly offered between Barking and Fenchurch Street. FR (freight) contracts are mainly offered between Barking and both Plaistow and the loop at West Ham. Occasionally any type of contract may be offered to any of the intermediate stations.
If you unlock Shunting then you can take freight trains forward from Barking and reverse them into the siding/terminating platform at Plaistow, drive them out forwards, run the loco round using the loop at West Ham and then drive them forwards again back to Barking.

===

I hope you enjoy playing this map. While it looks simple, you'll need to plan carefully if you're sticking to real-life frequencies, especially: east of the West India Quay/Poplar junctions, where a "train every 5 minutes" service needs to merge with a "train every 10 minutes" service; and also through the single-track sections near Stratford.

If you find any errors in the map or have any suggestions then leave a comment and I'll try to remember to reply.
