Lokomotiva řady 361 je dvousystémová lokomotiva vyráběná pro Železničnou spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK). Jde o komplexní rekonstrukci strojů řad 162 a 163 ZSSK společností ŽOS Vrútky a.s. V listopadu 2009 se začalo pracovat na prototypové rekonstrukci – 361.001. Jako základ pro rekonstrukci byl vybrán košický stroj 163.053, jehož elektrická část byla v průběhu roku 2009 zčásti použita při opravě požárem poškozené 362.006, ze které vznikl z hlediska výkonové i řídící elektroniky určitý mezistupeň vývoje mezi řadami 362/363 a řadou 361.

Stroje si státní dopravce ZSSK objednal především za účelem zajištění provozu rychlíků na hlavní trati Bratislava – Žilina – Košice a pro doplnění parku vícesystémových lokomotiv na rychlosti vyšší než 120 km/h (dosud disponoval pouze řadami 362 a 350).

The 361 series locomotive is a two-system locomotive manufactured for the Slovak Railway Company (ZSSK). It is a complex reconstruction of the 162 and 163 series ZSSK machines by ŽOS Vrútky a.s. In November 2009, work began on the prototype reconstruction - 361.001. The Košice machine 163.053 was chosen as the basis for the reconstruction, the electrical part of which was partly used in the course of 2009 during the repair of the fire-damaged 362.006, which resulted in a certain intermediate stage of development between the 362/363 series and the 361 series in terms of power and control electronics.

The machines were ordered by the state carrier ZSSK primarily to ensure the operation of express trains on the main line Bratislava – Žilina – Košice and to supplement the fleet of multi-system locomotives at speeds higher than 120 km/h (until now it only had series 362 and 350).
