That's also gonna be something I think of when i make those 1910s steam shovels

yeah we had to reduce the weight of our (me and bluebro's) excavators to make them balanced with the vanilla excavators. otherwise they where costing almost twice as much even without any inflation.

I'll try to do some comparing to Ryan's steam shovels and other things i can find soon

Yeah. It's about as good as what you can buy in 1960 but a full forty years sooner and it towers over any competition. It does have a big engine, it is slow but those are more arguments for having it as high as 14-16 in 1920 when others are 4-12. As for the traction engines and comparing to them... whoo... I could make a blogpost about those. :steamfacepalm:

Anyway, Having it at 14~16ish would also allow for a late 30's/middle 40's model tractor to be made around 18~22 skill to round out the entire early run before the vanilla dozers at 22 and 27 start their progression for a good upward gradient.

People CAN edit them themselves if they care enough but we're talking more out-of-the-box balance. It's just two numbers so no sweat. :B1:

there are two steam traction engines on the workshop rn
as well as Jutland's Kommunar tractor which is available right after.
One of the steam traction engines has a much higher max speed (40km/h) and 15 skill in seeding.
It is also much lighter and weaker therefore - cheaper. Available 1900-1920.
Jutland's Kommunar is slower (14km/h) but also lighter than the Hotl (cheaper) and marginally more powerful. It has 10 skill in seeding, and 12 in bulldozing
So I'm not sure, I guess I could downgrade the Holt to around 16 skill in farming since that's more based on offroad speed, and then idk... 20 for bulldozing?

thanks for the compliment btw

The speed is probably accurate for a straight line on ideal roads. But you should match the progression to the base game, since that's what most people who are doing early start mods do.

But I will look into adjusting its skill compared to similar vehicles available at the time.
Tough thing is there's not that much reference.
Kalmoire  [author] Mar 19 @ 8:18am
The speed is actually accurate from data I found.
It's just that it slowed down quite a bit when carrying its usual, heavy (~14t) equipment.
Mackeroni Mar 19 @ 2:56am
That's true, it's about twice the weight (thus twice the cost) of the 1956 bulldozer. I would still compare the base game ones and go from there.
Since the earliest vanilla ones start at 1956 and 1958, they both move at 20km/h and have bulldozer skills of 22 and 27 respectively. I'd keep the speed below that. After all, it's twice as heavy but still has the same engine power as those ones, and its engine is basically antique in comparison.

I would suggest to reduce the skill value to around 16 and lower the speed to ~16km/h as well? It's a shame W&R doesn't have more detailed vehicle stats to configure with.

It's a gorgeous model, by the way.

it's also quite expensive and heavy so idk, what do you think?
I just kinda copied it from its speed
