Description
Heroes of Legend - Tyranids Edition

This mod adds new heroic units for the Tyranids.

A big thanks to Timmeh to let me use his texture from his mod and to Mindrivet as feedbacker/tester.

Compatible with Too Many Voices, you must use this patch.
Compatible with Gladius+, you must use this patch.
Compatible with EBF Super Heavy Wrecks, you must use this patch.

Available in FRENCH, ENGLISH and SIMPLIFIED CHINESE (thanks to Tutur).

Regardless of the player color used, heroes will keep their own colors. They are like mercenary only available to the Tyranids in the Heroes building like vanilla heroes. The Tyranids comes to Gladius Prime with their own color scheme, barks, heraldic and assets to devour the planet !

The Red Terror

Role : DPS

Research needed : Ravener Deathspitter (Tier 5)

Skills :
  • 1st Overrun : The Red Terror deals more damage to broken or shaken targets.
  • 2nd Sudden Pounce : The Red Terror jumps into the fray, pins the infantry, gains an extra action and cannot be targeted by surveillance.
  • 3rd Layered Chitin : The Red Terror temporarily gains armor and damage resistance.
  • Elite Ravenous Tide : Red Terror increases movement, resistance to ranged damage, and grants lifesteal for nearby allies.

Traits :
  • Bloodlust : The Red Terror gains attacks, resistance but loses movement when its morale drops.
  • Serpentine Body : The Red Terror takes reduced melee damage.
  • Vicious Devourers : The Red Terror regenerates its health when it eliminates a target and reduces the morale of nearby enemies.
  • Tunneler : The Red Terror can make hive tunnels, like the Trygon.

The Parasite of Mortrex

Role : Offensive support

Research needed : Gaunt Instincts (Tier 6)

Skills :
  • 1st Parasitic Infection : The Parasite of Mortrex infects biological victims when attacking, reducing their accuracy while dealing damage for next turn. If the target dies, it will create a Rippers Swarm.
  • 2nd Rarefied Enhancements : The Parasite of Mortrex marks a target and gains perforation (vehicles) or attacks (infantry) against it.
  • 3rd Encircle the prey : The Parasite of Mortrex allows nearby allies to gain accuracy when attacking enemies with adjacent allies.
  • Elite Synaptic Enhancement : The Parasite of Mortrex temporarily becomes a synaptic unit and a shadow in the warp.

Traits :
  • Shadow Hunter : The Parasite of Mortrex gains resistance to ranged damage after moving.
  • Hunter Instinct : The Parasite of Mortrex deals more damage to flying units.
  • Predator Instinct : The Parasite of Mortrex gains movement if its morale falters.

The Rippers swarms suffer more damage from area damage (flamer, bomb...) and can evolve (with 30 biomass/influence) after 3 turns to a final Tyranid forms.

  • Hormagaunt (15%)
  • Gargoyle (15%)
  • Warrior (10%)
  • Carnifex (10%)
  • Lictor (10%)
  • Ravener (10%)
  • Tyranid Prime (5%)
  • Hive Tyrant (5%)

Doom of Malan'tai

Role : Ranged DPS/Support

Research needed : Zoanthrope (Tier 5)

Skills :
  • 1st Spirit Leech : The Doom pulverizes infantry in order to regenerate its wounds and those of its allies.
  • 2nd Warp Blast Lance : A powerful version of the weapons with more penetration.
  • 3rd Catalyst : Passively heals nearby allies.
  • Elite Paroxysm : A powerful version of the Paroxysm skill that target all foes in range. The cooldown is now of 5 turns.

Traits :
  • Psybrood Coterie : The Doom increases the accuracy of nearby synaptic creatures and psykers.
  • Synaptic Tendrils : A powerful version of the Synaptic Link with more range.
  • Psychic Node : The Doom reduces warp damage to nearby units, gived by the Synaptic Tendrils ability.
  • Deepest Shadow : A powerful version of the Shadow in the Warp that affect all units, but much more Psyker.

The Horror ability is now an area skill with a longer cooldown. The Doom won't attack in melee but uses his Warp Blast Burst as a regular weapon.

Old One Eye

Role : TANK/DPS

Research needed : Rippers Dissemination (Tier 4)

Skills :
  • 1st Regeneration : Old One Eye regenerates his health every turn..
  • 2nd Armoured Exoskeleton : Old One Eye increases his armor, damage resistance and maximum health.
  • 3rd Alpha Leader : Old One Eye increases the accuracy of lesser Tyranid creatures.
  • Elite Berzerk Rampage : Old One Eye gains movement and an additional action after eliminating a target.

Traits :
  • Indomitable Monstrosity : Old One Eye can survive fatal wounds and return to combat quickly.
  • Adaptive Biology : The Hive Mind strengthens the Old One Eye's mobility, for a cost.
  • Trampling Charge : Old One Eye increases his melee damage when he charges the enemy and returns damage taken in melee.
  • Death Frenzy : Old One Eye increases its perforation when broken or shaken.

Old One Eye have the "It will not die !" by default and have a Crushing Claws as additional weapon.

The Swarmlord

Role : Commander

Research needed : Coherence Node (Tier 3)

Skills :
  • 1st Power of the Hive Mind : The Swarmlord grants an additional action and damage to a non-synaptic unit.
  • 2nd Blade Parry : The Swarmlord temporarily reflects damage received in melee.
  • 3rd Guard and Consume : The Swarmlord increases the resource rate of outposts.
  • Elite Neuroparasite : he Swarmlord can temporarily take control of a unit, Psykers and Demons will be stunned instead.

Traits :
  • Critical Mass : The Swarmlord can deploy inferior Tyranids as reinforcements as he wishes.
  • Hive Commander : The Swarmlord increases the accuracy and damage resistance of nearby units.
  • Psychic Barrier : The Swarmlord takes less damage.
  • Voracious Appetite : The Swarmlord generates biomass with each victim.
  • Swarmlord : The Swarmlord leads the swarm and its loss will greatly reduce the effectiveness of the troops.

The Swarmlord can only attack with melee weapons, he have an extra bonesword.

The only way is to put an upkeep cost (with a trait) for the summoned unit during next turn. But this is not practical at all.

Sadly, i've spotted this issue recently. Idk if this feature was always here or if it's an update that added it to the game.

I warned the dev on the Discord but i didn't received any answer.

Wh- You know what, I'm not surprised since half of the game is hardcoded.
But can't you somehow make it cost the rss after the new unit pops up or something? Even if I try to change it some it's still really unbalanced.

That's a game limitation, if the initial unit disappear during the process, the cost is refunded.

Also, ripper growth cost for some reason gets refunded a few seconds after using the ability

Oh? Hearing of new potential nid content is always peak.
But I did notice a small bug, some hostile units, especially other modded ones, benefit from the Mortex's "Encircle The Prey" ability.

I'm not planning a patch soon, too much work. But if someone wants to do it, it's possible. I've created one for Grimskul so peoples can i have an example to work with.
