Description
A re-master of Zak's port of syaped's Classic XCOM Armor with optimized + cooked assets, improved config entries, and new parts.

As these assets were presumably made for taking HD renders first and inserting them into games second, every texture used in the original mod was sitting at a whopping 4096x4096 resolution. Seemingly no attempts were made to scale them down, as to preserve the quality.

However, textures are THE biggest size hog in any project, and they only hog more space when you use such high-res textures. In terms of XCOM 2, 4K textures aren't necessary for armor sets like this - even the texture sets of base game cosmetics never go past 2048x2048.

The quality gap between 2K - 4K isn't exactly noticeable, either. You'd probably need a 1440p+ monitor and the debug camera to get in close to see a difference. In normal gameplay, even in the Armory, i'd bet very good money less than 10% of you would notice the quality drop.

Such high-res textures would also put extra strain on one's system performance if their specs aren't exactly great, especially if they have multiple soldiers wearing the set at one time.

So to help both the file size and the performance of this mod, i've scaled down most textures by half down to 2048x2048, and some down to 1024x1024.

Yes, i've cut some textures down to just 1024x1024 in size. This only applies to the Cloth and Tint masks, as they consist of flat solid colors with no other details, so it's safe to size them down even further.

Combined with cooking the mod, the file size becomes incredibly small. Just shrinking the textures alone drops the mod's asset package from 415 MBs down to 88 MBs. When cooked, this lowers to just 26 MBs.

Config wise, i've added support for more armor types for the Torso parts, and the arm + leg parts now use the bAnyArmor bool so they can be worn with... any armor.

The only parts you'll need to re-assign to your soldiers are the Arm and Leg parts, but only if they weren't using Kevlar armor. Anyone in your character pool should likely be safe, as soldiers inside of it default to Kevlar.

It also adds new parts. The Dogtags that came with the torso are now separately selectable under the Face Prop sections, both shoulderpads can now be worn on either arm, and the headgear comes with a variant that's a neck cover instead of a full head wrap, also under Face Props.

What? This still retains the female version of the suit.

I did re-work the female models for a specific reason that i can't recall, but the new proportions are more-or-less identical to the original.

All the original did was just shrink the male armor to fit the female rig, it didn't do anything else. This is also how i approached it, and probably why you think the male/female proportions are exactly the same. If you actually compared them side by side, you'd see the female armor is a bit smaller/skinnier than the male armor.

The most difference is that the original had a slightly skinnier waist and the chestpiece was a bit higher up the ribcage. The arms are basically the same, and the legs have slightly thicker thighs.

Kinda strange that the original mod has the female version of the suit

Ahh. Oh well

No, I'd have to adjust the model myself.

Which i don't really care to do, honestly, the female model looks fine to me. Does it need a skinnier waist or something? Does it need a stonking great pair of tits breast mound on the chestplate? It's a sci-fi body armor, i don't think these things are completely necessary.

Hey so I noticed that when I assign a female character the xcom suit, it has the same sizes and proportions as the male suit. Is there any way I can fix that?

Appreciate the remake it looks pretty much the same in-game and the reduction of file size is awesome, I was wondering however since you've already added your own additions to the mod I was wondering if by any chance we could get an alternative torso piece that doesn't have the 02 decal on it?

this is recreation of other mod, and both didn't make this model. so unless you find a model, there's no chance i believe :)

Are there plans to recreate the original power armor as cosmetics?
