Description
Rebalances ironclads and naval projectiles in a sort of unbalanced way.
Aka the Roanoke Space Battleship Mod

Ever wondered why the best of the European ironclads struggles against the endless wooden boat spam of feudal Japanese shipyards that were built yesterday, probably with no trained engineers on hand?
Tired of fighting an endless stream of boring, yet demanding, naval battles with no practical auto-resolve solution, against ai with better gun range than you, such that even with the difficult-to-maneuver Warrior you struggle to get off the first shot?
This mod might have the answer.


What does it do/How does it work?

This mod does a couple things. (Details are listed below)
Chiefly, the mod changes the projectiles tables such that the cannons on the ironclad hulls are able to shoot farther than they can in vanilla, ballpark figure is more than a 20% gun range boost.
Ship acquisition and upkeep costs are also increased for balance purposes.

The Roanoke Class ironclad is given the guns from the Kōtetsu Class Japanese ironclads since irl it had guns of even larger caliber.
Ingame, this means that it has a glorious 6 gun Kōtetsu broadside. Yikes.

Unit caps have been removed from all fots units. Economy will be the only factor limiting naval acquisition.
I uncapped the rest of the units because I figure that messing with the ironclad unit tables would cause compatibility issues with mods that remove unit caps, so I decided to incorporate that feature into this mod.
I haven't really modded any of the other stats of the elite infantry units, since that is beyond the scope of this mod, though I am somewhat tempted to do so for balancing.

This mod does seem to be save-game compatible.

Idk why you removed the cap. its like you made a good mod and shot the knee

I'll try out your mod but I feel lifting all the unit caps entirely and upping the costs is a bit overkill; would settle for just doubling the caps and keeping all the stats and costs the same. It's already hard to be able to afford to build up a robust enough navy to defend your trade ports in the early game

Yeah I'm not sure how to fix that.
The mod seems to still be working fine for me, my late game save still works and allows me to spam units.

the unit cap on infantry doesnt work for me either. none of the infantry unit cap mods have worked for me for a long time now, i tried erasing those files in the %appdata% and ive even uninstalled everything and am on a totally new hard drive but no matter what i do not one of the like 5 different mods ive used have worked.

I think its def a conflict but I am not interested in checking each mod by disabling atm. I trust it works for you, so I'll try and remedy this at a later date. :steamthumbsup:

Are you running another mod that sets unit caps or might change any of the tables I posted? Since this mod already sets all the caps to 0 I suspect there is some sort of mod conflict.
