Description
Play as the Pirate Queen of the Chinese Seas, Ching Shih; in Sid Meier's Civilization VI.

Canton or Kwangtung is derived from Guangdong, this region along with Guangxi constitutes the Lingnan homeland or Yue. Cantonense is a particular dialect in the region, its use signifies prestige and urban living. The names of Guangxi and Guangdong indicate that these were the frontier regions as their names invoke the vast east and west. The Imperial Chinese would always hold a grip on the region. The Ming dynasty reformed Guangxi and Guangdong as a single Lingnan Circuit, effectively giving the locals the name Lingnan. The Qing dynasty was often at odds with the region, especially as their weakness would lead to Portugal, Britain, and France seizing cities in the area; along with internal uprisings such as the Taiping Rebellion; or the adjacent threat of privateers emboldened by Vietnam, such as the Pirate Confederacy helmed by Zheng Yi Sao (otherwise known as Ching Shih).

FEATURES
  • Requires: RISE AND FALL, GATHERING STORM, and KHMER AND INDONESIA CIVILIZATION PACK

    LEADER: CHING SHIH (Canton and China)
  • Trait - Pirate Code of the Chinese Seas: Traders cannot be plundered at sea if adjacent to a Naval unit. Naval units become stealthed if adjacent to a Trader. Naval units gain +3 Combat Strength on coast tiles. Capturing a city permanently grants Trade Routes sent to city-states +1 Culture. Gain the Gambling House unique building in the Government Plaza (Tier 2).
  • Agenda - Pirate Confederacy: Likes civilizations with a small Navy. Dislikes civilizations with a large Navy.

    LEADER BUILDING: GAMBLING HOUSE
  • A building unique to Canton and China when Ching Shih is the leader. +1 Housing, +2 Amenities, and +4 Trade Route capacity. Additional +10 Tourism with Flight. Awards +1 Governor title.

    CIVILIZATION: CANTON
  • Trait - Haijin: Coastal tiles with a resource gain +1 Culture. Coastal tiles gain +1 Culture while at war. -50% Production towards Settlers while at war and cannot settle cities while at war.
  • Spawn Bias - Tier 1 Coast.

    CIVILIZATION UNIT: JUNK
  • Cantonese unique Renaissance era Naval Melee class unit that replaces the Caravel. Units in formation gain its Movement. Adjacent Ranged class units may attack when embarked.

    CIVILIZATION BUILDING: CANTONESE OPERA
  • A building unique to Canton that replaces the Broadcast Center. Available at Opera and Ballet. Gain Faith equal to Theater Square adjacency. Has 4 slots for 1 Great Work of Writing and Art, and 2 Great Works of Music. Automatically themed when full. Does not grant a Specialist slot.

    *Great Admiral Ching Shih renamed to Luan Qoy Loi.

    The Cantonese Opera was already nerfed once, @The21er.power.cat. The purpose to always have it themed so I will never take that away. Taiwan has been considered and will be made after I am finished with the Indias. In other words: a promise I cannot make.

    The traits and building of this civilization are super creative and seems like it won't be overpowered
