Large Gem Furniture

Description
I liked the large gemstone crafting from Dark Ages, but sometimes I just want to play a more vanilla game, and there were some items I wanted that were missing. So I wrote my own mod to add in the ability to craft some stuff out of large gemstones! Make your own dead cat statues out of sardonyx!

HOW TO USE:
- Build a craftsdwarf workshop
- You should see a new option called 'gem'

That's it!

Any furniture you can make with wood or stone you can make with gems. So beds, tables, thrones, coffins, statues -- even barrels, buckets, and bins, if for some reason you really want to.

Also included is a sub-category for crafts. Want to drink out of a sapphire? Go for it.

CREDITS
- GM-X, and his Dark Ages mod for giving me the idea in the first place (get it here).

I love using this mod, lets me make my Fortress out of odd stuff, but one thing i would love is making Gem blocks I want a Fort made of random colour blocks furniture and everything

That's great to hear! Glad it wasn't a mistake with the mod itself. :) I did that exact same thing when I was testing and thought I might not be able to craft with a large gem that's already had smaller gems encrusted onto it... when in reality, yeah, it was pulling from the wrong stockpile haha.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it!

Haha, solved it. Was drawing from a different stockpile. I've played since .40d and managed to make that mistake. Going to leave that post and not delete like a coward.

More feedback - I really enjoy that this mod makes me import lots of large gems. Buying a lot of high cost and low weigh items really increases the importance of trade, and forces me to not just rely on exporting rock mugs. This has really enhanced my enjoyment of the game.

Loving mod so far, but I'm running into a decent issue. I've been trading for large gems, but despite having 20+ currently I'm not able to use them. This is odd because yesterday I was able to use them on this save.

@Katy

In theory, it should work off of the item's material multipliers so higher priced gems should provide more value. I didn't adjust these -- they should be part of RAW, under the data -> vanilla -> vanilla_materials -> objects -> inorganic_stone_gem.txt. Or if you want something easier to read, the wiki here (https://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Item_value) .

The lowest level gem is x2 value, while the higher level ones provide x60. I didn't run any hard calculations, but this seemed to be the case in my testing -- stuff made of sapphire was worth far more than stuff made of sardonyx (as pictured above).

and how does making gem furniture effect prices when trading with the merchants, have to adapted the price ,i mean building out of gems should be worth more right or is this only graphics and items sell as like say a wood or stone item >?
