Description
Play as the Maharaja that patronized the Konark Sun Temple, Langula Narasingha Deva; in Sid Meier's Civilization VI.

Odisha is a region that is known as Kalinga in ancient times and Orissa in the middle ages. The land of the Odia people is known for its extensive coastline, thick forested area of the Garjat country, and as the homeland of the Jagannath form of Vaishnavaite Hinduism. The Jagannath, or Juggernaut in English, is worshiped along with its siblings as the highest form of the Hindu triumvirate, closest to the supreme reality. Jagannath is a distinct form of Vishnu that was first introduced by the Rajas of Kalinga, these monarchs would later lead the charge against the earliest Islamic and Mamluk conquerors of the Indo-Gangetic Plain. Eventually the Odia people would form the Gajapati Empire, known for its battle elephants. The Bengali Muslims would eventually desecrate Odia religion and their historic record, leaving the region in decay as it swapped hands from Bengalis to the Mughals to the Marathas to the British.

  • Odia and Indian unique Heavy Cavalry class unit when Langula is the leader.Must be purchased with Faith. +1 Movement when starting the turn on open terrain. +10 Combat Strength when adjacent to a Wonder. +17 Combat Strength with the Stirrups and Ballistics technologies respectively.

    CIVILIZATION: ODISHA
  • Trait - Servitor of the Jagannath: Lumber Mills grant +1% Production towards units and +1% Faith in all cities, up to +50%.
  • Spawn Bias - Tier 1 Forest, Tier 3 Jungle/Coast.

    CIVILIZATION UNIT: SADHABAS
  • Odia unique Medieval era Naval Melee class unit that replaces the Caravel. Available at Naval Tradition. +17 Combat Strength with the Cartography technology. +1 Gold in international Trade Routes and +1 Faith in domestic Trade Routes per Sadhabas, up to +20.

    CIVILIZATION BUILDING: MADALA PANJI
  • A building unique to Odisha that is an upgrade for the Temple. +3 Great Prophet points per turn. Grants a bonus to the city depending on the Worship building within: +4 Culture if it is a Cathedral. +4 Tourism if it is a Dar-e Mehr. +4 Food if it is a Gurdwara. +3 Production if it is a Meeting House. +4 Gold if it is a Mosque. +1 Diplomatic Favour if it is a Pagoda. +4 Loyalty if it is a Stupa. +5 Faith if it is a Synagogue. +3 Science if it is a Wat.
