Description
General description

The aim of this mod is to improve your Netherlands experience compared to the one found in vanilla Victoria III and fix the historical inaccuracies as found in Victoria III patch 1.10. This mod has been made to retain the vanilla balance, so the starting resources (e.g. number of pops and starting buildings) of the Netherlands are identical to vanilla. Only Curacao, Aruba and Bonaire can provide (Dutch Zulia: Dutch Leeward Islands) some additional resources eventually.

NOTE: Because this mod aspires to be more historical accurate, the Netherlands is now harder to play from the start.

The main changes presented in Netherlands Improved mod (v1.12) compared to vanilla Victoria 3 (1.10):

- Made compatible with Victoria 1.10
- Added new character portraits for heir and future king Willem IV (son of King Willem III), Johan Rudolph Torbecke, Gerard Adriaan Heineken and Jean Chretien Baud.
- The Netherlands now has laws from the start that reflect its historical laws in 1836
- The Netherlands start with the Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij as its first active company
- The Netherlands now also has two new flavor companies: Heineken's Bierbrouwerij Maatschappij and Van Dooren & Dams Textiel
- The Dutch East Indies now starts with its own variant of the serfdom law: the Culture system, which adds the ability for subsistance rice farms to produce coffee, sugar and tea
- The names of dutch cities has been changed to be more accurate compared to vanilla V3
- The Netherlands starts with a political lobby against Belgium
- Belgium starts with a political lobby against the Netherlands
- The Netherlands starts with a declared interest in Japan
- Curacao and Bonaire (single province) have been added from Venezuela to the Netherlands
- The flag of the democratic republican version of the Netherlands has been changed to represent the colours used in the Dutch and Batavian Republic (red, white, light blue). Consequently, the flag of Luxembourg has a slight change from using red to now using faint red.
- Willem I, Willem II and Willem III now have more historical traits
- Added a negative modifier on the Gelre coal
- Reduced the maximum coal building size in Gelre
- Added a new Journal Entry that informs the player how to remove the negative efficiency modifier from Gelre to produce coal
- Gave the Netherlands the 'corporate charters' tech to allow for the existance of the Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij from the game start.

Not part of the mod right now:
- The new state of Brabant. This state has been removed from the mod in version 1.06 to better handle the map changes implemented in recent Victoria 3 versions.
- St Maarten will not (as of yet) be added right now. This island is too small and will hardly impact any dutch game.

Released an update (1.12) which enables compatibility with the latest Victoria 3 patch (1.10) and the National Awakening DLC.

A major update has been released for this mod. Several new gameplay elements and improvements have been added in v1.11. Check out the description and the changelog for more details.

Also I added a short video to introduce the features of the mod.

A new version has been released compatible with the latest Victoria 3 patch (1.9.2). I have made several changes to the mod content as well.
- Laws have been changed: Netherlands now starts with Laissez Faire and Free Trade along with Land Tax and Local Police. This better represents the Dutch situation in 1836, which was much more market economy focused terms of economic and trade policy compared to other European countries.
- Coal mining efficiency in Gelre (Limburg) have been significantly lower in terms of efficiency to simulate the lack of coal production prior to 1870. The fully potential can be unlocked by completing a journal entry and getting to the required technologies (Steam Donkey and Nitroglycerin).
- Changed the traits for the Dutch monarchs (Willem I, Willem II and Willem III) that were already born in 1836. After Willem III there will be no historical monarchs.

Made a new (lite) version of the mod to implement some of the changes to the Netherlands with the latest patches of Victoria 3. As a consequence I had to remove the newly added state changes within the Netherlands from this mod. This ensures better compatibility with all the map changes made by Paradox. As Paradox also implemented some of the changes to the pops in the Netherlands (having catholic pops) I removed my fix to also better ensure compatibility with current and future Victoria 3 patches.

The mod's implementation of the territory of curacao (Dutch Zulia) has been kept in this mod.

Just briefly checked compatibility with V3 v1.1.2 and no changes needed to be made. I only changed the official compatibility status of the mod with the new V3 patch (v1.1.2) status.

@ Kato Hauge Hoyland It is not been made fully compatible yet, however it seems you can still use this mod in V3 v1.1. I will look to make an official compatible version of this mod later this week.
