Lore:
After the end of the 2nd World War, the Allies lay defeated. The United Kingdom was broken up and England was turned into a German client state. But not everybody laid down their arms so easily. Throughout England resistance is brewing, and after Hitler kicked the bucket and the Germans were thrown in complete chaos, they rose up under the banner of Her Majesty's Most Loyal Resistance.

Factions

Pro German:
-Kingdom of England

A collaborationist government under Edward VIII, currently led by the Royal Party, a party formed by Conservatives and Fascists after the defeat of the Allies.

The Kingdom of England is a black sheep of the German sphere, it's not fully or partially integrated into the German government nor even a fascist puppet state of the Reich. But a semi-democratic state under heavy German oversight.

England still has elections, but the King chooses the government. And thus since the defeat, only the Royal Party was in office.

Even though the Kingdom is practically a one party state, that does not mean that all political diversity is gone, because the Royal Party itself has multiple factions: the Reformers, the Moderates, and the Radicals.

The Reformers want to re-introduce democracy to England, but don't want to step on the toes of the Germans.
The Moderates want to maintain the one party state but reject Fascism.
The Radicals want to make England a Fascist dictatorship.

Because of England's large amount of autonomy, they have their own armed forces and their own weapons. But because of the Germans oversight, they are not allowed to continue making American-licensed weaponry, and those weapons were replaced by German-licensed ones.

England is also not allowed to have a modern air force or advanced weaponry, like guided missiles.

-Military Garrison in the British Isles
The German Garrison is there to oversee the English and to squeeze HMMLR.

It contains the cream of the crop of German soldiers, and children of politically connected parents who don't want to send their children to the unstable lands of the former (now occupied) Soviet Union.

Anti German:
-Her Majesty's Most Loyal Resistance (HMMLR)

After the defeat of the Communist Party of Great Britain in the Third Battle of Cable Street, Her Majesty's Most Loyal Resistance became the face of English resistance against the Germans and their collaborationist government.

Originally birth as a conservative organization fighting for a free Britain under Queen Elizabeth II (now head of state of Canada and the remaining Commonwealth). But non-conservatives have become members of the HMMLR.

Most of HMMLR weapons come from members of the Organization of Free Nations, most prominently the United States of America and the Dominion of Canada. Those weapons could be old World War 2 models, abandoned prototypes, and modern firearms. The US specifically gives the M48 Patton tank to the Resistance. But airplanes are not something given to the resistance, mostly because of the lack of proper landing strips. partly because of the lack of pilots and other personnel qualified to handle aircraft, and partly because of the difficulty of smuggling aircraft into England itself.

Part of the HMMLR:
-Left Resistance (No unique equipment, only unique skin)

The Left Resistance is a collection of various different leftist groups fighting under the same banner.

It was led by the Communist Party of Great Britain because of how well organized they were compared to the rest of the English Left. But after the defeat in the Third Battle of Cable Street and the London Uprising, most of the Left Resistance got killed or captured.

After the horrendous defeat, the battered remnants of the Left Resistance joined the HMMLR to continue their fight.

The current Left Resistance are still being led by the Communist party (or at least the remanence of it), but now has to share power and influence with the other faction of the HMMLR.

Just because of the Communist leadership doesn't mean the current Left Resistance are all Communist.
You can separate the Left Resistance into 2 factions:

Progressives: A mixture of Social Democrats, Democratic Socialists, and Libertarian Socialists. Mostly cantered around a group of Ex-Labour Politicians.

Pollitites: Marxist Leninist (Also known as Bukharinism), led by the remnants of the Communist Party.

-SAS (for Spec Ops)

Remanence of the Special Air Service, they are highly trained and motivated but small in number. They mainly do Sabotage, Terrorist, and other Guerrilla operations.

Politically their very Nationalist, Conservative, and Anti-Democratic.
