Description
No longer actively maintained - but probably still works
I do no longer update my mods to support new content. That said, almost all my mods basically never need actual updating after patches. So this mod will very likely still work, just not affect recently added content. I do start the game once after patches to check if my mods cause crashes, and intend to keep fixing those critical problems if they arise.

Overview
Makes campaigns start easier compared to Vanilla and then become harder over time by ramping up AI bonuses as the player expands and becomes more powerful.

Campaigns can be quite challenging at the beginning because the bonuses the AI gets from higher difficulties are static throughout the game. But after the player has mastered the initial challenges, the static bonuses then are not enough to make the AI still challenging in the later game.

This mod tries to improve the difficulty curve by adding dynamic, adapting bonuses for the AI as the player expands and becomes more powerful. But it's still depending on your difficulty level, so Easy or Normal will still be much easier than Very Hard.

Features for the AI
  • bonus building income from their provinces that starts small but scales up high to improve their economy
  • bonus growth
  • xp gain per turn for units (only starting in the later game)
  • optional: gradual increase to replenishment and recruitment (only on H/VH/L, needs the MCT to enable)
  • extra high difficulty can be added by raising the slider in the MCT options

Tips & Details
What determines the strength of AI bonuses? It depends on the player faction.
  • For most standard factions, simply the number of regions owned makes the AI buff level go up
  • for Beastmen, making more hordes
  • for Warriors of Chaos, owned regions count fully and regions owned by vassals count for less
  • for Nakai, making more hordes, but to a lesser degree. The number of regions owned by the vassal faction also increases difficulty but those regions count only for half
  • Skaven mostly normal but undercities contribute as half a region
  • for Vampire Coast only their hordes count (not the normal armies) & owned regions count slightly less & pirate coves count as half a region
  • for Norsca, owned regions in Norsca count only half because of their low economic value. Settlements outside Norsca count normal, and every additional army also counts a little
  • for Wood Elves, their core settlements count triple because of their very high economic value, but outposts count only half

Compatibility
  • Savegame compatible: Yes
  • Multiplayer: Yes
  • SFO, Radious: Unknown, but probably
  • Known incompatibilities: Most other AI/difficulty mods will be compatible but the goals and changes may conflict or result in a game that is too difficult.

Troubleshooting
Before reporting issues, make sure that you have the current version of the mod. Steam quite often fails to actually pull the newest version after a mod has gotten an update. To make certain that you have the current version, unsub from the mod, then wait a few seconds. Steam will then delete the mod file from your hard drive. Then resub to the mod and Steam will download the current version to your hard drive.
