Church of the Holy Heart of the Lord (Jiří of Poděbrady Square)

The first idea of ​​building a temple in Vinohrady dedicated to the Holy Heart of the Lord was established in 1884, when the women's association Jednota St. Elišky launched a financial collection. [1]. The next step was the urban plan of the Královské Vinohrady Municipal district, which took into account the situation of the ceremonies in the already crowded church of St. Ludmila. The Slovenian architect Josip Plečnik was invited to implement the project after his accession as the main architect of Prague Castle. Plečnik's first project assumed that the temple would be surrounded by an anti -column.

The church stands in the urban conservation area of ​​Vinohrady, Žižkov, Vršovice. In 2010 he was ranked among the national cultural monuments and in 2014 he was proposed by the Town Hall of Prague 3, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the Republic of Slovenian designed to enroll in the list of world heritage.
