More Accurate Venetics

Descrição
Changes the adriatic Venetic culture in the game to make them more accurate.

(made as a sub-mod for Invictus)

Whilst the Adriatic Veneti are represented in the game, they are simply given Roman names, and worship the same gods as the romans. However we do in fact have accounts of and inscriptions from the adriatic Veneti, showing their religion and names to be utterly distinct. And while the later veneti did indeed assimilate into Roman culture and religion, they did so in a similar (albiet more willing) fasion as other peoples the Romans subjugated, like the gauls or iberians. And yet, not all the cultures in the game are simple reflections of Roman domination.
This mod, therefore, aims to present a more accurate version of the Venetkens, as they existed in this time period, in the game.

Things changed in this mod:
- Changed the Venetic names to more historically accurate ones
- Created a new religion for the Veneti, with 8 attested deities to choose from (this religion is now no longer present in the game setup, however veneto should still start with venetic deities.
- Changed the Venetic name list (in the latin culture file) from roman names to attested Veneti names (all the venetic names added to the mod are present in Venetic inscriptions from before the arrival of the Romans).

To do:

- Custom flavour for the Venetic culture.
- Fixing up localization and making things more accurate.
- Balancing the new religions and heritage.

It may be clashing with the culture conflation for invictus mod (however I do need do update this mod anyway for the latest updates of Invictus).

What I might do, to make this mod more easily compatible, could be to remove the new religions and replace them with druidic and hellenic, with the venetic deities being kept as cultural deities within the druidic faith (in this case I would revert the etruscan faith to vanilla Invictus, and change the venetic and rhaetians faiths to druidic, as these groups were not at all influenced by the greeks before they were assimilated by the romans, but the Veneti at least did worship several Celtic gods).

huh for some reason, when i hit new game, it gets stuck on loading the world when i have this mod active, im using invictus and quite a few submods with it (mods im using are, in this order: 2.0 better ui, culture conflation for invictus, imp: invictus - more cultural names, historical imp pack - invictus, imp: invictus, inr - invictus, timeline extention for invictus, te: crisis of the third century, more character traits, fmo)

this mod seemed to be the culprit in my problem, would changing the load order (i had it near the bottom) help or is it conflicting with one of the mods im using ?

After removing the religions the mod would be compatible with the converter, since it uses a more accurate venetic namelist anyway (very similar to in the mod).

I don't believe that the religions in this mod are mapped in the converter, so I would assume no. However, if you would like I could make a version of this mod without the religions (I would still change the religion of the Rhaetians and Veneti, but to drudic though, as they had almost no contact with the hellenic world, and no Greek gods were worshiped in pre-roman Venetia, however celtic gods were).

Does this mod support conversion from Imperator to CK3? Can it be used in a megacampaign?

Thank you. I appreciate it! I'll definitely take your suggestions into account, but I'll try to look for more sources first on these points (just to add more certainty to the changes in the mod), e.g. are there any attestations of the veneti using any symbols/banners to represent themselves. I might take a small while though since I'm rather tied up with my studies at the moment.

This is straight out of my dreams! I'm Venetian and I've been long waiting for for someone to do something like this. Venetics are such an underrated ancient people, that enjoyed respect both from Greeks and Romans and had mythical foundations in the Iliad. I also find it quite hard to get groundbreaking sources about them, so I'm surprised to see so little-known person and god names.

I have two suggestions, if you didn't already think them up:
- Please make a more fitting CoA, the vanilla is random generated (and even identical to the Parthia one), I'd make it a white prancing horse on a light blue background, as in the flavour intro from Invictus;
- I think that Altinum, despite being an important emporium, shouldn't be the city and capital, but this role should be up to Patavium, which was the city mythically founded by Antenores and at the time of Livy was the second wealthiest city in the Res Publica after Rome.

Keep up the good work.

@ᖴɩᥱɾᥴᥱᙃᥱʋɩꙆ probably an issue on your end. Verify game files, disable other mods.

Also, the reason I wanted to make this mod is that the vanilla latin names (and inaccuracy of the hellenic religion for the Veneticans) was driving me crazy whenever I played Imperator Rome, so I decided to make an earlier version of this mod (and the one for CK3) for myself.
Eventually I started reading academic papers to remake the mod (the one that I made for CK3) in a much more accurate way, basing everything I could on these sources, and once I was relatively satisfied with the one for CK3 I uploaded it to the Steam Workshop (and later this one for Imperator Rome, at the suggestion of someone else).
