About Immortal Empires Beta Early Game Events

In the beta stage the CA has released Immortal Empires even the singleplayer campaigns have no curated early game experience. Compare this to 3k and WH3 RoC campaigns they lack focus for a player who is brand new to a faction. Historically this lack of early game introduction events was only in multiplayer, but I have temporarily enabled this mod for singleplayer as well.

If CA adds fully fleshed out singleplayer introductions to each faction in Immortal Empires then I will disable singleplayer functionality of this mod.

Through turns about 2 to 9 every faction will drip feed events that introduce mechanics along with some flavor text taken from the game files. Many events will give a small buff or resource relevant to the topic being discussed. These are to simulate completing those early game missions, but because this mod was made for multiplayer in mind it does not use missions but rather just events.


About Multiplayer Early Game Events

Multiplayer campaigns lack the flavorful early game missions. Some of these function as tutorials, some give you nice rewards (especially heroes). The early game missions also give the player a lot of flavor text that is important if you are new to a faction. There is also an initial event that gives a faction overview on how a faction plays with hyperlink help text. This mod restores much of the function of those early game events for multiplayer campaigns.


Latest Update: 9/16/2022 All 23 races in Immortal Empires added! All 87 or so legendary lords have their own intro and Turn 1-10ish introduction events for multiplayer!

Compatibility with Other Mods:
This should work with basically every other mod ever made. It only touches incidents/events (and locs) that trigger on the first 10 or so turns. If you use this mod in singleplayer you may get some extra events poping up. If you use any mods that add events in the first 10 turns they may be delayed until turn 11.



Behind the Curtain/How It's Made:
In all previous Total War titles CA limits the amount of missions executed via script in multiplayer campaigns. The general reason is to reduce issues with desyncs. The functionality restored in this mod does NOT add scripted missions back in. Instead this mod handles the early game events via incidents and dilemmas, while still giving the player the same information and rewards. Multiplayer campaign players start with increased cash, so money rewards are not added back. Special units, heroes, faction resources are given to the player.

Been playing a coop campaign recently with this mod and I just got a single faction overview popup. So if I understand correctly, we are getting the one from your mod, and CA didn't fix their own yet.

MP, getting a pop up that I can't dismiss and had to load-save around on turn 1 as Sigvald. Not sure if that's this or not, but it's a second How To Play where I can click the button but it doesn't actually go away. Just wanted to report. Doesn't show up in SP.

Missing infections corrected. Also updated the mod for the new patch. I've removed my HOW TO PLAY turn1 event now that CA has added new ones for IE singleplayer.

I'm not sure if the CA How To Play event occurs in multiplayer, so I am leaving mine turned ON for multiplayer.

If anyone is able to test a multiplayer game please let me know if you get BOTH turn 1 Faction Overviews popups.

I'll take a look. RoC or IE? Singleplayer or multiplayer campaign? Which turn was missing the infection resource bonus?

I just started a Nurgle campaign and noticed that the events from this are not giving the + infections bonus. I am using Radious + few other mods.

I've seen that very specific crash/desync behavior (first fight at the beginning) happen when one player has a different version of a mod than the other on their PC. The best thing to do is to unsubscribe and resubscribe to all mods to force a delete and redownload of the mods to ensure you get the latest version.

Steam workshop is kind of lazy in that it only checks to make sure you are both subscribed to the same mod, it doesn't actually check the version on your local machine. Mod workshop downloads get interrupted and messed up sometimes when a mod has a rapid back to back updates. (I updated the mod twice in 10 minutes to fix something)

Playing this with a friend caused us desyncs, I was kairos he was skarbrand, on his end there was just no animations happening and then when I went to initiate the first fight got the exiting for desync message, just using this better camera mod and building progression icons, happened twice and then we turned just this mod off and everything worked fine
