Description
Adds a new set of governments between medieval and modern tiers and makes older governments more viable to keep by changing Wildcard slot progression.

While the new governments from JFD's Rule with Faith do the job fine, many people have reported issues since that mod series is no longer updated. This mod right here is not quite as polished (no custom Moments added, for example), it is meant to be the next-best thing to fill the gap in the Industrial era. However, it also comes with some unique changes on its own.

This mod is part of Project 6T and requires "Grand Eras", which adds new civics made specifically for these new governments!

Features
  • 3 new Governments as the new government tier 3 (for a total of 5 tiers) added to the Industrial Era.
  • All eras without a government tier now unlock additional policy slots, marked with icons in the civics tree.
  • Ancient Era: Wildcard slot at Consecration.
  • Post-Classical Era: Wildcard slot at Citizenship.
  • Renaissance Era: Wildcard slot at Humanism.
  • Modern Era: Wildcard slot at Mass Media.
  • Information Era: Military slot at Rapid Deployment.
  • Information Era: Economic slot at Globalization.
  • Information Era: Diplomatic slot at Space Race.
  • Rebalanced slots of all existing governments. All governments but the final tier no longer come with innate Wildcard slots. This way, even outdated governments are still viable as they continue being upgraded through the slot unlocks.
  • All new governments come with Legacy policy cards. They are unlocked by building the Chancery (which no longer requires any tech or civic to build, only a government of the new tier).

I am not planning to work on special compatibility with BBG.

When combined with bbg, since both mods change the policy slots of communism, it has one more economic policy slot than it should have and is sorted into the tier 5 governments column of the government selection. It's only a minor issue but is there any chance of an update to fix this?

Been having an issue where, when we use the mod it causes a force reload for everyone who is not the host. If there is a fix I'd love to know cause we were really excited to use these mods.

Vanilla tier 3 governments have similar relationship modifiers, all -20 as far as I know. The deviations from that are on purpose - revolutionary republics are meant to attract the scorn of everyone else (see all of Europe declaring war on the French revolution) because they themselves fear it. Whereas a Noble Commonwealth is a middle ground nobody has a problem with.

Absolutely fantastic mod. It's mandatory in all my games. I did however notice something peculiar I wanted to point out, which may be intentional, I'm not sure.

The governments introduced here seem to vary wildly in how leaders with other governments view them, even if they are currently using a vanilla government. For example, you receive -40 opinion from being a Revolutionary Republic, -20 from being an Absolutist Monarchy, and strangely 0 penalty from being a Noble Commonwealth. In vanilla, tier 2 and 3 governments generally have a penalty of about -3 to -6 for differing governments.

This last point might be unique to me or my mod setup so it's not a huge concern, but I think the dramatic diplomatic penalties associated with these governments seem to make the AI less likely to choose such governments. In my games they seem to avoid switching to these governments at all.

Thank you again for such an awesome mod!

I think this mod makes some techs invisible in the techtree when you are playing with tech and civ shuffle mode

I don't think I am. If you want to be sure, maybe its a good idea to check my modlist out, as that is what I use.

are you using any UI mods affecting the government screen?
Harold Smith May 2, 2023 @ 5:33am
The UI is messed up with the First Set of Classical Era governments. They are overlapping with the same row where Chiefdom is. Any way to fix this?
