~~~ The PHS hardpoint data and safety standard ~~~
PHS stands for Public Hardpoint Standard.
It is a system which allows for broader functions in each weapon.
It is fully backwards compatible with the old PPS3, or Public Pylon Standard 3 in terms of logic, so only a physical adaptor is required.

Guide for implementing it

--- The basic principles of operation ---
You tell the weapon that you wish to fire it on composite boolean channel 11.
The weapon now has the option of giving you launch authorization. If it thinks that it's ready to be released from the hardpoint, it will send its own boolean on channel 11. If your trigger is pressed and this is received, the hardpoint will launch it.

You don't necessarily need to tell the weapon to fire for it to give launch authorization. LA from the weapon will make the hardpoint launch, so weapons which are on racks may not actually output this. For showing it on cockpit systems, it's wise to use channel 12 as well for "inert" launch authorization.

--- More advanced functions ---
On boolean channel 12, "Uncage" is transmitted to the weapon. This is a simplification of a real world system, which lets the weapon's seeker seek out targets on its own without being launched.

Channels not mentioned here are free to be used for any other functions of your choosing. Azimuth and elevation data can be sent back to the weapon on the same channels for slaving to a sensor on the vehicle.
