All High Elf Factions Submod
8K Textures

This is my very first mod. Originally part of the Nagarythe Expanded Roster mod, I took special interest in the Shadow Phoenix; I thought its concept was fantastic and I wanted to put my own spin on it.

If you want to use this in tandem with Nagarythe Expanded Roster, you can but you may have two Shadow Phoenixes or my units' stats may or may not take priority.

Shadow Phoenix
With the unique ability to manipulate the shadows, these Phoenixes can temporarily phase in and out of sight before suddenly appearing front of their target to deliver their devastating strike.

Faction:
  • Nagarythe
Required Buildings:
  • Aesnar Camp
  • Temple of Asuryan
Role:
  • Flying Monster
  • Melee
  • Hit-and-run
  • Flanker
Passives:
  • None
Abilities:
  • Shadowflight - Grants Stalk, Unspottable, +15% Speed and +25% Charge Bonus for 24 seconds.
  • Shadowcloak - Grants +50% Ward Save for 15 seconds.
Combat Tips:
  • This unit is a unique hit-and-run ambusher that has low combat sustain but has the highest weapon damage compared to other phoenix units. Its abilities can either supplement combat sustain for a short time, or its escape.
  • The Shadow Phoenix is dependent on its Charge Bonus to give it temporary combat buffs so treat this unit as you would a cavalry regiment mostly; hit and then run.
  • The Shadow Phoenix can potentially counter single or low-numbered entities such as heroes, lords, artillery, etc.
  • The Shadow Phoenix has low health and weak sustain, you'll need to keep this in mind and be smart in how you use it and its abilities. Use Shadowflight before engaging so you can catch the enemy off guard before they can react with a defense plan. Or use it to escape bad situations.
  • Use Shadowcloak in order to either give the Shadow Phoenix combat sustain for a short time or in attempt to temporarily nullify lots of damage until it waddles itself back into the sky.
Additional Notes:
  • Benefits from all relevant Phoenix-related buffs granted by lords and technologies
  • Integrated in Nagarythe's rebellion armies
  • Implemented for Custom Battles
  • Includes 2D portholes

Vengeance
Once a majestic Phoenix of the arcane, the malevolent influence of dark magic has infused this once noble creature with a burning malice. Now driven by a thirst for retribution, it seeks to unleash its wrath upon those responsible for the desolation that befell Nagarythe.

Faction:
  • Nagarythe
Lord Level Required:
  • 32
Role:
  • Flying Monster
  • Melee
  • Crowd Control
Passives:
  • Unbreakable
  • Berserk
Abilities:
  • Vengeful Aura - An AOE debuff that applies -6 Melee Attack and -12 Leadership to all enemies around it.
Combat Tips:
  • This unit is a unique Regiment of Renown that has high health, high armor, low melee attack, but superb crowd control.
  • Vengeance exists to give crowds of enemies a hard time so despite his damage potential being low, the splash radius he possesses is large and is superb at disrupting enemies. Using this against units that are made for dishing out large amounts of damage can really debilitate them, especially with his aura.
Additional Notes:
  • Benefits from all relevant Phoenix-related buffs granted by lords and technologies
  • Implemented for Custom Battles
  • Includes 2D portholes

Thanks to r1kko for the unit card art.
Credits to VanguardMk1 for giving me permission to use his Shadow Phoenix assets and apply my own ideas to it, as well as a personal thank you.
Credits to ^1Shep^8ardov for his high resolution Arcane Phoenix texture I used as a downscaled base for Vengeance.
Credits to Eldritch Entomologist for the edited thumbnail image.

Any chance for a port to Warhammer 3?

@Shadow1474 KMM says it's updated, but since autosaves can be loaded, I just lost 1-turn's worth of progress, not a big deal... Am continuing with my campaign with new saves w/o any problems

@ZenislevSoma - That's odd. Try unsubbing and resubbing manually. Sometimes updates don't go all the through for some reason. If it still crashes, I'll do some testing later when I have time.

Due to the update it seems to crash when loading quicksaves and manual saves, but works when loading autosaves...

yep, it shows the unit card correctly now, thanks for quick fix

@gongoozler @Lukasao - I've pushed an update that should fix the issue. It was a tiny oversight on my end because I had the incorrect name of the unit card picture. Sorry about that!
Lukasao Nov 22, 2021 @ 11:47am
same as gongoozler, the unit card is displayed as a blue question mark, which isn't that much of a problem, but it looks weird
gongoozler Nov 22, 2021 @ 11:36am
bug report: why does the unit card of normal shadow phoenix not appear in both custom battle and campaign? Everything else seems fine tho.

Now is working thanks

@Anax - I pushed a hotfix that should fix the crashing between the two mods. Unfortunately this fix means the update is probably not compatible with on-going campaigns but I cannot be sure because I have no current ones. Also, as an unfortunate side-effect, Nagarythe will have two Shadow Phoenix units; mine and the one from Nagarythe Expanded Roster. For now, it's the best I can do for a hotfix.
