Description

Mod Version: 1.4.1

IMPORTANT!
This mod will be completely reworked soon. It will take some time, but I will keep everyone updated on the progress. You can see here a brief explanation on the changes: https://ko-fi.com/post/Nuclear-Processing-Mod-Update-Ideas-N4N0TDXRY

This mod adds five new buildings to the game, and new features related to nuclear management. My idea on this was to create new interesting ways to use and process nuclear materials in Spaced Out.
Its very important for you to read this complete explanation to avoid surprises while operating the new buildings.

Voloxidation Calcinator
This building is quite dangerous, since it will release short waves of radiation while its operational. They are too weak to cause any real harm, but they will produce a lot of radiation contaminants around the building, so I don't recommend operating it without the Lead Suit. This building counts with an input and output logic doors, as well as a manual setting control for radbolts.

Zippe-type Centrifuge
Works a bit the same as the game centrifuge, but instead of producing nuclear waste, it will produce solid Radium as waste. For now, Radium has no utility in this mod, but further mod I will add buildings that will make use of it. See future plans for more information.

Radfuel Press
This building only function is to produce the Radfuel Pellet, an item used (for now) only by the Rad Projector. I tried to make the projector to simple use Enriched Uranium or Radium, but I was not able to allow user to select which element is supposed to be delivered, so I created an item that would serve as a generic radioactive fuel that could be created from different radioactive materials.

Rad Projector
This building projects radiation as long its fed with Radfuel Pellets. Creates a 6 range field of radiation around it, with around 140 rads/cycle. It will constantly produces liquid nuclear waste that must be piped out of it. Requires no power to operate, although this can be changed in the future. The project roughly uses about 4,8kg/cycle of fuel, compared to the 10kg/cycle fuel the Nuclear Reactor uses. Also produces no heat when operational.

ABWR Reactor
This building workings are somewhat similar of the Experimental Nuclear Reactor from Spaced Out, however, it does not produce any direct radiation. Radiation will be present in the steam it emits and in the nuclear waste, since both will be heaviliy contaminated with Radiation Contaminants. Also its of paramount importance to note that the react center works the same as a tile, with the necessity of tiles, more likely insulating tile, placed next to it. The building itself transfer no heat. The steam and the nuclear waste will be released directly bellow it, while the meltdown, should it occur, take place above. See the picture bellow:

  • Yellowcake now can be stored under Manufactured Materials tab, and also have its own unique texture, both for the object and the world mass.
  • Radium now can be stored under Consumable Ore tab, and also have its own unique texture.

My estimations with the processing of Uranium Ore gets around 70% efficiency, compared to the 20% efficiency of the vanilla centrifuge, and the 90% efficiency of the Beetas Hive. This values are subject to chage, since I expect comments helping me out balancing this mod properly for everyone.

Regarding the ABWR Reactor, I still not sure how everyone will take it. Its design to be use for the production of energy by the steam it produces. I hope to get further comments about that one so I can tweak it a bit if required.

    !!! IT CRASHES !!!
If you are experiencing crashes, before posting any comments, confirm this check list:
  • Check if the mod version presented here in the description match the mod version in the game.
  • IF mod versions don't match, use Mod Updater to force it to update. You can find the
Mod Updater here on workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2018291283
  • Check if its not mod conflict. Disable all mods but leave this one active, then restart the game.

IF everything else above fails, then proceed to post a comment, but remember to share the following information:
  • Game Version: It's Vanilla Base Game, Spaced Out or Beta Test Branch.
  • Condition: It's Crashing during start game load screen, during save load or during gameplay itself.
  • Crash log: its the short crash log provided in the crash screen. Copy it and paste in the comments. if its too
long, you can post it using Pastebin [pastebin.com], then share the link in the comment.

Hello everyone. I'm really glad to announce I have get back on work on my projects, not only on modding, but also in development of cool stuff using related to game design & artwork. I have been absent from making posts and social contact stuff for a while, but now I'm planning on making my own blog so I can publish not only updates on my workings, but also publish tutorials, links, detailed information, on-going projects, and everything else people may need. Also I'm sharing my discord contact if you want to contact me directly: ronivan_fontanez.

Thanks for everyone support and understanding.

Why does the Rad Projector Produce 8 g/s of liquid Nuclear Waste, if it only uses 5 g/s of ore. Shouldn't it produce 5 g/s of liquid Nuclear Waste instead?

Well its too early to give a hint on how the mod will change, but expect a lot of changes, in fact, this may be totally different from the current state. I will announce the changes long before the mod is released so don't worry. Expect two reactors though: one main reactor for energy production, and a breeder reactor for recycling waste fuel.

completely piped reactor? does that mean we will be able to use any fluid in it for coolant like a metal refinery, and then have to build a heat exchanger for the turbines? or does it just pipe out the steam?

looking forward to it regardless

*w* congrats for the new blog (because yes, I have faith that you're going to open it, sooner or later) aaaaand for the newly acquired skills!

Hello again everyone. I've added an important announcement on the end of my mod description. See to it because its important. Regarding this mod, it will get a big update as soon as I finish my blog stuff and get back to work. It will take a while though because it will be a complete rework on the mod, will the substitution of all buildings, two brand new reactors, and a new element too!

Great news, @Ronivan! :steamhappy:
Excitedly (?) waiting for the new reactor, yaaaay!

(And thanks for the effort, ofc <3)

Thank you, I will see this issue fixed soon. Also I want to announce that this mod will be completely modified soon, since I had great success in some experimental buildings and ideas I had for it. I believe you will all love the new reactor too! The ABWR Reactor will reamain though, but the new, beside being much more efficient, will also be completely piped.
