Description
#More reasonable Holy Wars

Have you ever been annoyed with your vassals using Holy Wars every single time just to get a single county they have De Jure claim on?
If yes then this mod is what you have been looking for!

AI in CK2 undermines your religion authority overusing Holy Wars because it does not take into consideration rulers who may join such a war. It chooses this kind of CB because when it wins it gets all titles for itself instead of getting new vassal/vassals.

This mod allows usage of HW CB type for: independent rulers, kings under emperors unless they are both content and craven, any other vassals if they are both ambitious and zealous. If requirements (independent ruler; king under emperor regardless of traits; vassal at least ambitious or zealous), of which at least one has to be true, change during Holy War such war becomes invalid and ends inconclusively (e.g. independent ruler becomes vassalized but is neither king nor has ambitious or zealous traits).

#FEATURING
  • Holy War CB allowed for independent rulers
  • Holy War CB disallowed for vassalized counts and dukes unless one is both ambitious and zealous
  • Holy War CB allowed for vassalized kings unless one is both content and craven
  • Holy War ends inconclusively if not one of the requirements is true: is independent, is king, is ambitious or is zealous

For example: Your vassal is a king (and not both content and craven) so he is able to declare a holy war and decides to do so. If you then revoke his kingdom title and he doesn't rebel, his holy war will end inconclusively unless he is either ambitious or zealous (or both). If he rebels his holy war will continue as it is allowed for independent rulers (even rebelling).

#TBD
Not planned.

#COMPATIBILITY
Compatible for sure with everything that doesn't change or add Casus Belli types.
It may however be compatible with overhaul mods such as HIP, CK2+, aGoT and similar. Use at your own discretion.
Save game compatible - all Holy Wars checked on next "tick" if requirements are met for attacker and if not they end inconclusively.

#ACHIEVEMENTS
You won't get achievements using this mod.

#WORK IN PROGRESS ATM
None.

#NOTE
If you don't meet requirements for Holy War CB you won't see it in the list!
If you find any issues please give me a feedback - they will be resolved asap.

@Roger: That's what I was pissed about myself. This mod makes vassals use much more reasonable CBs, although if they meet requirements thay will HW as in vanilla...

Playing as jewish spent 200 years building up to multiple kingdoms and converting one province back to proper jewish.
Only for some shit head vassals to tank MA losing stupid fucking holywars.
Will try this out but I might just block all holy wars except wars declared by the religious head.

Independent rulers can do whatever they like. "Featuring" part of the description above gives you all the details on that part. There is no "weighting" in CBs - if there was it would be much easier to balance HWs without adding requirements. Unless you are using some other mod that changes CBs and messes things up.

Hi again, but this time I'm in topic with the mod :sts_defect:

So I've wanted to test your mod since I've noticed in one of my playthroughs that there were really few holy wars (if not zero). I've done so by starting a new game in 936 because after some months Bulgaria Empire will always declare holy war on the Pechenegs (unless they're attacked by the Byz, just restart the run in that case). But, when the mod is on, he doesn't declare holy war but rather the "liberate duchy" one (I've switched on and off a couple times and always goes this way).

So is this intended that AI gives priority to others CB even if they can HolyWar?
The emperor of Bulgaria is "content" but as I've understood independent rulers can be whatever right? Also he isn't both "content" and "brave" so it isn't checking the "king" requirements either.

@BtH: I'm glad you worked it out... :)

I think you're not interested but I want to share it ahahah: I've found the reason why modifying "has_coa_on_barony_only = no" wasn't working. The problem was exactly that I was using Patrum Scuta xDDD I should've thought about it before, it was quite obvious that a mod on CoA would have conflicted about these kind of changes :tableflip:

I already have Patrum Scuta :D And the generated CoA doesn't happen only non existing county CoA but on evryone. Let's say you have paris and you convert to hinduism, now Paris CoA is a buinch of pisces and elephants:sts_defect:

I have the dlc too ahahah I've bough the imperial collection of CK2 on instant gaming at 25€ . :sts_merchant:

Thanks anyway for you help ^^

@BtH: As far as I know CoA are randomly generated in every instance that requires it - that is to say a county has no historical ingame CoA. It is how the game works. I have no experience in this matter so I can't help you. However you may wanna try a mod like for e.g. "Patrum Scuta" or get a "Ruler Designer" DLC for 5 bucks. If you would like to hear my opinion I would try the mod or just let it be as it is, because 5USD for such f****** piece of s*** dlc-like product is not worth it at all... :)

@DonJulan

As I said, I can't stand the random generated county CoA, which happens if your char is muslim or indian (as well if he converts). I've searched on the web and players suggested to modify : "has_coa_on_barony_only = no" (in 00_religions.txt) to "yes". But I've done it and nothing happens 🗿

Do you have some ideas? If you don't obviously no problem. Thanks anyway :praisesun:

@BoT: Feel free to post your question here, however bear in mind that my knowledge on the matter is most likely quite limited.
