[OBSOLETE] Parkitect Multiplayer Mod V0.5

Description
Multiplayer is now incorporated into the core game itself, therefore this mod is rendered obsolete.

How do I use this mod?
Hosting a server
To host a server using the Parkitect Multiplayer mod, you will have to follow the following steps:
  1. Find out what your local IP address is by opening command prompt and typing in the command ipconfig. You can open command prompt either by searching for it or pressing windows key + R and open cmd. After running the ipconfig command, you will need to find your IPv4 address. You are going to need this address later on in this guide.
  2. Find out what your external IP address is. Players joining your server need this address to join your server. You can find your external IP address by going to sites like whatsmyip.com.
  3. You will need to port forward the port you are going to use for the Parkitect Multiplayer server. You can find multiple port forwarding guides online (this one for example). The default port for the Parkitect Multiplayer mod is 16231, but you can set this number to any number you would like (port numbers range from 0 to 65535). Parkitect Multiplayer uses the TCP protocol for communication between server and client(s).
  4. Start a new park, or load a save game in Parkitect. If the mod is loaded correctly, a button will show up on the left side-menu. Click on the button, and fill in your local IP address in the IP address input field. This IP address should already be filled in by default. If you have filled in another port than the default port while port forwarding, fill in that port in the port input field. Press 'Start Server'. Your server should now be running. If your server is failing to run, please follow the guide again and make sure Parkitect is not blocked by your firewall.
  5. Give your external IP address and the port that the server is running on to players that want to play with you.

Joining a server
To join a server using the Parkitect Multiplayer mod, you will have to follow the following steps:
  1. Start a new park in Parkitect. If the mod is loaded correctly, a button will show up on the left side-menu. Click on the button, and fill in the IP address and port that the player running the server gave you.
  2. Press "Join Server". You should now be joining the server, and loading the server's park.

If you are experiencing bugs, or have problems setting up a server, you can create a new discussion on this workshop page. You could also contact us at support@luvick-software.com.

Does this mod work well together with other mods?
The mod supports custom assets, as long as all players playing in one server have installed/subscribed to the exact same assets. Mods that do not have anything to do with synchronization between server and client (mods like CoasterCam, FlyCam and PeepCam), can be used safely even when the other players have not installed this mod.

There Is Pretty Much No Use To This Anymore, But It Is Still Good.

Following up a bit - by running the Windows version of the game with Proton, I see the MP button, so this is definitely an OS-specific issue

Confirming what @brain.exe said - on Linux (the only OS I've tested on) I still just get a duplicate Visualizers button

@Ludo, thx for the update, but on Linux/Mac it's still showing just a duplicate "Visualizers" menu item. Windows is looking fine. If you need further debug information, just contact me

@brain.exe Could you check if this bug still occurs in the latest version of the mod? Otherwise this is probably a bug related to the operating system you're using, and I will have to fix it by running it through a virtual machine.

@klardotsh @SirFrolo A new version of the mod has been released. Could you check if the crashes/bugs you experience still occur?
brain.exe Sep 7, 2020 @ 5:16am
hey, thx for creating this mod! But it's also not working for me and I only see a duplicate "Visualizers" menu when this mod is active. (btw: new mod version, tested Parkitect 0.15 + 0.16 + 0.16 exp. on Mac. no other mods active). Any workaround known or can I provide some other logs/details?

Hey! Big fan of the work you're doing and I'm very excited to see what the future holds. Currently, there is an issue where my game crashes shortly after hosting a server (I'd say about like 5 mins into the game). Is there anything I can do? Thanks!

I can see that a new button has been added to the left panel, but it's just a duplicate of Visualizers. I see no multiplayer button at all. I'm guessing this is something related to a Parkitect update?
