Skarlet's past is an unknown, all we know for sure is she has obsession with blood and hate towards Advent. Some think she is a vampire, but Dr. Tygan is pretty sure she is just an Advent's victim, one who witnessed too much in her childhood.
Oh, and she also calls Commander a "kahn", which is medieval term for military leader, but it's not like she's a vampire who lived for few hundreds years, right?
