Description
Ever wanted to play as one of the Scarecrows from the Farmstead?
...
Probably not, honestly. Here's a mod for it anyway. This mod DOES NOT require any DLC, not even Color of Madness.

The Scarecrow is a support class / damage dealer, one of the enemies from the endless Farmstead given new life as an ally. He has a wide variety of abilities allowing him to function in multiple party compositions, and is able to fulfil many roles. He comes with 4 basic palette-swap skins, and the unique ability to gain the Refracted affliction outside of the Farmstead.

CELEBRATING 200 RATINGS AND SPOTLIGHT: 3 new trinkets, 1 Sunward and 2 Ringmaster, and totally new custom combat skill icons!

Mod Features
------------------------------------------
- A new hero class - the Scarecrow. Featuring 7 skills, 4 camping skills, and 14 class trinkets. Plus a full suite of barks for every occasion including unique reactions to the Shrieker among other birds.
- 2 class-agnostic trinkets for any hero to use - a Collector head, and a special bird-annihilating trinket bestowed by the Scarecrow himself.
- A town event for the initial recruitment of the Scarecrow.
- Most art and sound assets are taken from existing game assets or RedDye's asset packs, but thankfully @Retrograded and @neilburg provided funding for commissioning the amazing Kenthril to make custom investigation and camp sprites! Massive thanks to them all.

Shard of Growth

Healing ability.
Applies healing over time to one ally.

Iridescence

Self-buff ability.
Marks self.
Activates riposte, debuffing riposte damage but buffing riposte crit.
Stealths rest of party.
Has a cooldown of 6 rounds.

Camping Skills

WATCH THE FIELDS

Time Cost: 3
Slightly reduces own stress and increases companions' stress.
Prevents nighttime ambush.

DISTANT WINGS

Time Cost: 3
Increases own DMG and CRIT for 4 battles.
Greatly increases own stress.

CRYSTALLINE GROWTHS

Time Cost: 3
Heals one companion and increases their PROT for 4 battles.
Increases their stress.

FORGET THEM ALL

Time Cost: 3
75% chance to moderately reduce own stress, 25% chance to greatly reduce own stress.
Reduces own stress received for 4 battles.
Removes own mortality debuffs.

Other Information
------------------------------------------
- Many of Scarecrow's abilities and trinkets deal additional damage to birds. In the vanilla game, this exclusively affects the Shrieker, but it also affects modded enemies that are either birds or related to birds.
- The Scarecrow's canon name is Eustace.
- The Scarecrow is not religious.
- The Scarecrow's crit effect is a small dodge buff and a riposte damage buff.
- The Scarecrow does not gain bonuses from any districts.
- This mod includes 14 trinkets; 2 Common, 1 Uncommon, 1 Rare, 1 Very Rare, 2 Crimson Court, 1 Crystalline, 2 "Scarecrow" rarity (counts as Ancestral), 1 Sunward (requires Sunward Isles), 2 Ringmaster (requires my Singleplayer Arena Trinkets mod), and 1 Collector head trinket. Full stats can be found in the images above, except for the Collector head trinket, which is a secret.

First Scarecrow
------------------------------------------
The Scarecrow will not appear in your Stagecoach until his specific town event has occurred. Thankfully, it has a very high chance of happening early on. After the event happens, Scarecrows will begin to show up in your Stagecoach as usual.

Known Issue(s)
------------------------------------------
Scarecrow currently has one known issue, unfortunately one which cannot be fixed on a code level:
Certain enemies - in the vanilla game, only Gatekeepers so far - will attempt to attack when the party is stealthed due to Iridescence and fail to do so, even though there is a valid target (the Scarecrow himself). The attack name will linger above the enemy party until the same enemy's next turn. The bug fixes itself on the next turn as that enemy will then use an attack as normal, but if they are killed before then, upon combat ending the attack name will remain as if combat were still continuing and the player will be unable to move (thus being forced to abandon the dungeon). This is not an issue with Scarecrow's code, but rather how the game handles Stealth, so I cannot fix it. The solution is simple - allow the enemy to take another turn and do NOT kill them until the bug has sorted itself out.

I cant figure out how to get dopamine from using this hero tbh, very generic, slightly awkward.

id really like a reskin that would overhaul his appearance making it less ridiculous, abandoning the idea of a sentient benevolent scarecrow altogether
he looks completely out of place. bad visuals!
