Design as a simple submachine gun for the Australian army,the Owen gun (named after it's original creator) was extremely reliable in harsh conditions,as the feeding was helped by gravity,and the chamber's opening was looking down,thus most dust and debris inside fell off.The Owen gun was extremely popular for Australian soldiers,mainly due to it's reliability and accuracy,much higher than the sten and thompson's.
