Waterworks

Description
The Waterworks mod adds an immersive way to obtain water as a resource, by mining and melting snow and by building wells, where you can hook empty buckets to it that you actually have to wind down to groundwater level (clay) to fill them with water.

How Does It Work?
The idea of this mod is not to limit your creativity in building wells, but rather let you build and design your own, custom ones, like this one, where you can attach a hook with an empty bucket to a ropedrum. Once done, you can wind it down to groundwater level to start the "crafting process" and fill it with water. This works thanks to Equinox's VoxelPowerProvider.
Furthermore, I implemented mining snow, which gives you snowballs, that you can then melt to water in a campfire.
This means water even becomes a local resource, but the rule of thumb is: if there's clay or snow, there's also water.
  • Water in humid biomes (grassland, forests, jungles) is easy to get, since the groundwater level is quite high.
  • You won't find any groundwater under mountains, rocky landstrips or in dry deserts
  • There is groundwater in desert oasis, but you'd have to dig deeper as in humid biomes.

Known Issues
  • Snowballs do not melt in warm biomes
  • After producing a bucket of water, you should always get the product out of the inventory first, before inserting a new empty bucket in the toolhead slot. Otherwise the filled bucket gets removed due to some limitations in the crafting system.

Another big thanks to Equinox, who scripted a dampening component that lets me get rid of the eternal wiggling of the hook on a rope, and to STORI3D PAST, to let me use his water texture for my buckets.

NOTE:
This mod does not do anything on its own, other than providing the resources. It's rather a base mod for other mods to use, such as the Advanced Building Materials and Paintable Blocks mods. Modders are welcome to use this mod as a dependency for their own mods.

Hook should be craftable with any ingot.

When you rebalance the fuel consumption, do it for the Kiln only. Your quest said the Kiln is more efficient.

Thanks!! I see I should have put these comments on your Lime Processing mod. I decided to switch out the fuel to use Timber. It's only a slight improvement.

But really, I would like to make a mod to extend the burn time of timbers. Those should last at least two or three times as long as torches / sticks.

@d-dubs thanks for your feedback, I'm glad you like it.
I am going to have a look into the whole crafting processes again in the near future as I am planning to add and change some things for an upcoming wipe on our community server. I'll keep the fuel consumption in mind.

@shad Awesome mod!! This is perfect because I don't really want to play with the water mod. Really like what you did here. However, the Kiln isn't more efficient than the Furnace, as stated in the lime / mortar research quest. Was really hoping it would use less fuel for fire since it's so large, probably retains heat rather incredibly well (small furnace cavity, thick insulating walls).

Right now it burns thru 6 torches just to make ash. 2 copper ingot can be smelted with just 1 torch. Just looking for better balancing here. I realize it makes a lot of bags of ash but the ash pellets require a lot of ash, the quicklime requires a lot of.... etc. Could you fix this please?
