USA Variety Pack V2.0

Description
Version 2 of the USA Variety Pack to increase the variety of steam locos for the American gameplay type. Many of these locos are generalisations of practices at the time and should not be confused with authentic models.

This pack is compatible with USA Variety Pack 1 savegames, as well as savegames with 6-2-0 John Stephens and 2-6-0 early mogul. It simply overwrites the content and the games will still load.

This pack contains 12 locos ranging from 1850 to 1910, and a balanced Passenger Wagon and General.
All engines contain custom soundsets.

6-2-0 'John Stephens'
An early attempt at a Crampton loco and a unique engine in the US.
Available: 1848
Speed: 60mph
Power: 218hp
T/E: 11,016lb/f
Notes: Don't use it on freight, its a losing battle.

4-2-0 'Pioneer'
Early American 'maid of all work' loco. Part of the original USA Variety Pack but updated.
Available: 1850
Speed: 40mph
Power: 122hp
T/E: 4,496lb/f
Notes: Cheap and cheerful.

4-4-0 'American'
The ubiquitous American 4-4-0, found everywhere forever.
Available: 1855
Speed: 45mph
Power: 188hp
T/E: 8,992lb/f
Notes: Buster Keaton not included.

2-4-0
Small mixed traffic engine, like a mini 4-4-0.
Available: 1859
Speed: 37mph
Power: 150hp
T/E: 4,496lb/f
Notes: Good at pull stuff. A good freighter.

4-4-0 'Express Passenger'
An inside cylinder 4-4-0 built for dedicated passenger work. Part of the original USA Variety Pack.
Available: 1862
Speed: 56mph
Power: 313hp
T/E: 7,868lb/f
Notes: Comes with rebalanced Crackerbox wagon.

2-6-0 'Early Mogul'
In awe at the size of this lad. Absolute unit.
Available: 1867
Speed: 50mph
Power: 510hp
T/E: 43,838lb/f
Notes: Its hefty, and great at those long freight trains.

4-4-0 'Small Switcher'
A small 4-4-0 for small 4-4-0 things. Fictional engine, based on a lot of pictures of small shunters.
Available: 1868
Speed: 43mph
Power: 136hp
T/E: 6,744lb/f
Notes: Just a good little engine really.

0-6-6-0 'Janus'
This actually existed. Two small 0-6-0 engines back to back to create a Fairlie. Utterly failed in real life though.
Available: 1871
Speed: 31mph
Power: 415hp
T/E: 42,714lb/f
Notes: personal favourite

4-6-0 'Fictional'
Part of the original USA variety pack. Has been usurped by other engines but I kept it for compatibility reasons and its cute.
Available: 1875
Speed: 31mph
Power: 209hp
T/E: 6,744lb/f
Notes: Animation is wonky, old model.

2-8-0 'Queenslander'
Small beefy 2-8-0 for medium freight trains and commuter services.
Available: 1880
Speed: 36mph
Power: 794hp
T/E: 20,907lb/f
Notes: Intended to replace the 4-6-0.

4-6-0 'Ten Wheeler'
Generic 4-6-0. Part of the original USA Variety Pack.
Available: 1898
Speed: 56mph
Power: 748hp
T/E: 38,218lb/f

4-6-2 'Pacific'
Pacific loco, part of the original USA Variety Pack.
Available: 1910
Speed: 62mph
Power: 1,360hp
T/E: 44,692lb/f

Hope to see this type of pack in tpf2 with new models and such. American early years from 1850-1900 are scarce!

Hi there, i love the models and variety in this modpack, but i do have a question. This mod really changes the balancing of the stock locos and wagons, something i really don't want.

i appreciate that TPF1 modding is most likely dead now, but as someone who enjoys this game more than its sequel i'll be sticking with this title for a while more.

Is there a config change, option, tweak or similar i can do to alter the balance changes of the vanilla railstock back to original, while keeping the new engines?

Thank you for your work going into this. This has become my favorite American loco mod on the workshop. An absolute must have, and some of these are so great they should be vanilla. I even appreciate the details and work on locos I tend not to use, like the Janus or 6-2-0.

Do not tell me why in 1890 I no have the opportunity to buy Queenslander? This train before 1900 should be available, right?

I suppose that's true

Then don't use the 2-6-0? You seemed to answer your own question there. If you're just going to always use the best engine it sort of diminishes the point of a 'variety' pack tbh
