Description
As of 23 February 2022, this mod is no longer supported. It has been revamped and included in Project Xenotype as of the Chapter 2 release. All future development will be managed there instead!




Adds a custom race / species for Stellaris with animated portraits, a room background (typically slot 1), and a name list (expanded from one of the default humanoid lists, available in English and German). Does NOT include a starting system, preset empire, or any additional traits.

Up to date for version 2.6.x.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS VERSION IS NO LONGER RETROACTIVELY COMPATIBLE. It may not work at 2.2.5 or earlier!

FULL localization support is included for both English and German.

As of update 2.2.6, I am proud to announce that this mod has been restored to its full breadth, depth, and functionality!


A feminine humanoid alien race with:
- 5 different body types
- 8 different eye colors
( red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple, violet )
- 30 different outfits
( red, orange, green, and blue scientist suits; 3 xeno zoologists with pets; ruler, governor, general and admiral uniforms; 2 priestess robes; 7 citizen outfits; 2 mining uniforms & powerplant uniforms, 3 slave rags, 3 purge rags )
- 20 different hairstyles, with alternative royal version for rulers
( long to shaven, feminine to masculine / androgynous )
- job-specific outfit selection
( pop outfit changes depending on the pop's assigned job)
- slave- and purge-specific outfit selection
( pop outfit changes to slave and purge presets if applicable )

I've done the math so you don't have to. There are 24,000 possible unique combinations, excluding the royal hair versions.

Please note that the artwork used to create this mod is not original, though edited and adapted. The original species artwork is by Evgeny Tumanis ( https://www.artstation.com/stygian ) and the empire room is by Christian Hecker ( https://www.artstation.com/tigaer ).

11/23/19 UPDATE LOG:
- Checked and proved 2.5.x compatibility
- Corrected issues regarding displaying both the English and German Ascellian name lists
- Replaced the placeholder German namelist with a finalized version, courtesy of neXITem
- Workshop screenshot maintenance and improvement, new cover image

10/20/19 UPDATE LOG:
- Muddled through the mess that is the new 2.4.x PDX launcher to check and prove 2.4.x compatibility
- Corrected two typos in the migrated ARE name list file
- Begun implementing German localization files with the help of Patrick-From-Germany

08/14/19 UPDATE LOG:
- Incorporated content from the Ascellian Race Extension (which has been henceforth discontinued)
- Included the ARE name list, featuring an expanded humanoid list with more descriptive suffixes and shared names across all categories
- Included the ARE empire room background, typically found as room 1 due to alphabetical arrangement
- Checked and proved 2.3.x functionality

03/22/19 UPDATE LOG:
- Implemented changes facilitated by 2.2.6 to allow job-driven outfit selection
- All previous functionality has been restored in accordance with current Stellaris format
- Checked and proved 2.2.6 functionality

@G7Strix, if you create an empire using the portraits, you can then add it to the pool or force it to always spawn.

Anyone know for sure how to enable these for randomized Empires so they can show up as AI?

I mean, that's what I consider "discontinued" to mean, even if it's technically been discontinued for so long already.

Understandable, and thank you for that! In that case, don't worry, because this mod isn't going anywhere and it shouldn't break any time soon. It's made it over two years without an update just fine. c:

i did, just dont like the path you took with em, i prefer this one, credit were credit is due, i like the changes to the blue humanoid
