Donald

This is one of the Scottish Twins, the other one being Douglas. These two are based on the Caledonian Railway 812 class, and they first appeared in Season 2 of Thomas The Tank Engine, specifically the episode Brakevan. The story goes that Sir Topham Hatt only ordered one engine, but ended up receiving two. This was because Donald and Douglas didn't want to be seperated. After a series of mishaps (including Donald backing into a signalbox and Douglas smashing up a brakevan on Gordon's Hill), the STH man was seriously contemplating sending one of the engines away.

Donald and Douglas did have a special talent though, and that was there ability to clear even the largest snow drifts. They proved very helpful during the winter months, and after a deputation led by Percy, STH decided to let both Donald and Douglas stay on the Island of Sodor.

The Scottish Twins made fairly regular appearances until around Season 7, when they disappeared for unknown reasons. They made brief comebacks in the Season 11 episode 'Gordon & The Engineer', and the Season 12 episode 'Saved You', and after that they vanished from Sodor. They returned in the 2015 film Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure, and have been recurring characters ever since.

Donald has also appeared in one of Frantic's videos. This is a Part 2 to the previous video, where Douglas ends up going missing. In Donald's video, Mr. Frantic uses him to go and rescue Douglas, even though it's Percy that actually finds Douglas.
